About Thiessen Safety Consulting

Thiessen Safety Consulting is a growing Saskatchewan-based occupational health and safety consulting firm delivering practical, results-driven safety solutions to clients across construction, manufacturing, industrial, energy, and agricultural sectors.

We believe effective safety management goes beyond policies, paperwork, and checklists. It's about building relationships, understanding how work actually gets done, and helping businesses create safer, more productive workplaces.

As we continue to grow, we're looking for a motivated and experienced Health & Safety Advisor to join our Saskatoon-area consulting team.

The Opportunity

We're looking for a safety professional who enjoys variety, takes initiative, and is comfortable working independently while being part of a collaborative team.

This isn't a position where you'll spend every day at the same facility or behind the same desk.

As a Health & Safety Advisor with Thiessen Safety Consulting, you'll support a diverse portfolio of local clients, providing practical safety guidance, conducting workplace inspections, developing safety programs, and helping businesses meet their regulatory obligations.

One day you might be conducting a site inspection, the next helping a client improve their safety management system, investigating an incident, or working directly with management to address operational risks.

We're looking for someone who understands that great safety consulting requires more than technical knowledge. It takes strong communication skills, sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to build trust with people at every level of an organization.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide occupational health and safety consulting services to clients across Saskatoon and surrounding communities.
- Conduct workplace inspections, hazard assessments, safety audits, and compliance reviews.
- Develop, implement, and maintain occupational health and safety programs, policies, and safe work procedures.
- Assist clients in achieving and maintaining compliance with Saskatchewan occupational health and safety legislation.
- Support COR/SECOR certification, audit preparation, and ongoing safety management system improvements.
- Assist clients with contractor prequalification platforms, including Avetta and ISNetworld.
- Conduct incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend effective corrective actions.
- Facilitate safety meetings,

toolbox talks, employee orientations, and workplace training.
- Support workplace safety committees and employer safety initiatives.
- Utilize digital safety management platforms, including SiteDocs, to manage documentation, inspections, and corrective actions.
- Work directly with business owners, supervisors, and employees to identify practical solutions to workplace safety challenges.
- Maintain accurate records, prepare professional reports, and provide timely communication and follow-up to clients.
- Build and maintain positive, professional relationships with clients while representing Thiessen Safety Consulting.

Qualifications & Experience

Required Qualifications:

- Previous experience in occupational health and safety, preferably within construction, industrial, manufacturing, or related sectors.
- A recognized occupational health and safety designation or education, such as NHSA, NCSO, CRST, CRSP, or an Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma.
- Strong understanding of Saskatchewan occupational health and safety legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Experience conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and incident investigations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Robust organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple clients, projects, and competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and take initiative.
- Strong computer skills and comfort working with electronic documentation and safety management systems.
- Valid driver's licence and reliable transportation.

Additional Assets:

- Trades, construction, or industrial field experience.
- Experience with COR/SECOR certification and safety management system audits.
- Familiarity with SiteDocs, Avetta, ISNetworld, or similar platforms.
- Experience developing safety manuals, policies, and procedures.
- Experience delivering safety training or facilitating workplace safety meetings.
- Current First Aid, Fall Protection, or other relevant safety certifications.

Why Join Thiessen Safety Consulting?

We recognize that great consultants need the freedom to think critically, develop relationships, and take ownership of their work.

What makes this opportunity different:

- Variety in your work:

Support clients across multiple industries and experience a wide range of workplace safety challenges.
- Local opportunities: Primarily serve businesses and workplaces throughout Saskatoon and surrounding communities.
- Professional independence: Take ownership of your client relationships, projects, and day-to-day responsibilities.
- Collaborative team environment: Work alongside knowledgeable safety professionals who value practical solutions and shared expertise.
- Professional development: Expand your technical knowledge and consulting experience across different industries and safety management systems.
- Growing organization: Join an expanding Saskatchewan business where your contributions are valued and your ideas can make a difference.
- Meaningful impact: Help employers create safer workplaces while building long-term, trusted client relationships.

The Right Fit

We're not looking for someone who simply checks boxes.

We're looking for a professional who can walk into a workplace, understand the challenges, build credibility with employees and management, and help implement solutions that actually work.

Someone who is equally comfortable having a conversation with a frontline worker, presenting recommendations to a business owner, or developing a comprehensive safety program.

You should be approachable, adaptable, detail-oriented, and confident enough to have difficult conversations when necessary.

Above all, we're looking for someone who takes pride in delivering quality work and genuinely cares about the people and businesses they support.

If you're passionate about practical safety management and want to build your career with a growing Saskatchewan consulting firm, we'd like to hear from you.
