Your Opportunity:

The LPN in the Neuromodulation department will support patients undergoing Electro-convulsive therapies, repetitive Trans Cranial Magnetic Stimulation, or Ketamine therapies for drug resistant depression. This fast-paced, ambulatory department supports mental health patients by offering interventional procedures to both in- and outpatients. The successful candidate will be expected to provide education and support to the patient. The LPN has a role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. Will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS. Will be expected to assist in the pre-treatment evaluation of all patients as per skilled nursing standards, hospital and program policies and procedures and in accordance with all legal and ethical standards. Expected to provide emergency interventions as required. Expected to have familiarity with psychiatric disorders that would require ECT, TMS or IV ketamine. Lastly, the nurse will have the ability to collaborate with patients, nurses, physicians and other health care professionals in the provision of care is essential.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Additional Required Qualifications:

Connect Care training, specifically Therapy Plans. Procedural sedation courses. Proficiency with airway management post sedation and/or general anesthesia. IV initiation certification & IV medication administration course.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with Airway Management. Previous experience with procedural sedation or recovery room experience would be an asset. Minimum of two years’ experience working in Mental Health.
