Plan Academy is a growing online training & consulting company that helps large-scale construction & engineering companies worldwide improve their project management abilities. Plan Academy’s online video courses on construction project management are well-received around the globe and our membership site helps companies and individuals when they are stuck.

We’re hiring a Web Application Developer focused on WordPress, PHP, and WooCommerce to help grow the platform’s capabilities and better serve our learners and corporate clients.

This is a full-time role. Candidates must be based in Canada.

Key responsibilities

· Maintain our Learning platform and marketing sites from a technical perspective

· Ensure our platform and sites are running smoothly, are up-to-date and reliable

· Assist in translating business requirements into technical features

· Develop new features and tools that improve our services for users

· Maintain our existing third-party integrations and build new ones

· Implement UX & UI designs into code

Must-have skills

WordPress

· Experience customizing WordPress internals (actions/filters)

· Proven experience building WordPress themes and plugins from scratch

· Deep experience with custom post types, post meta, user meta, options and the $wpdb class

· Building REST API endpoints and writing clients that consume third-party APIs from WordPress (authentication, webhooks, error handling)

· WooCommerce development,



including subscriptions and payment flows

· Experience with the LearnDash plugin is an asset

General

· Modern PHP development (8.2+): OOP, autoloading, Composer

· Front end: Tailwind CSS, Alpine.js or similar JavaScript frameworks, contemporary JavaScript, npm and build tools

· Strong GIT skills and a pull-request workflow

· MySQL and WP-CLI

· Linux CLI and an understanding of DNS records (A, CNAME, etc.)

Nice to have

· Docker-based local development

· AI expertise
