A well-established, COR-certified multi-trade mechanical contractor serving the industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) markets is seeking a Takeoff Specialist – Mechanical (Piping) to join its Estimating team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Perform detailed piping and mechanical quantity takeoffs from construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Review drawings and specifications to identify project scope, materials, equipment, and installation requirements.
- Complete accurate takeoffs for piping systems, fittings, valves, equipment, supports, and related mechanical components.
- Read and interpret mechanical, piping, architectural, structural, and civil drawings as required.
- Review tender documents, addenda, specifications, and drawings for changes, discrepancies, and scope requirements.
- Identify drawing conflicts, missing information, and potential scope gaps.
- Prepare organized and accurate takeoff summaries for use in project estimating and bid preparation.
- Work closely with estimators to ensure all quantities and scope items are captured accurately.
- Assist with obtaining and verifying material, labour, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
- Compare supplier and subcontractor quotations against takeoff quantities and project requirements.
- Maintain organized estimating files and supporting documentation.
- Assist with estimate reviews and revisions throughout the tender period.
- Meet tender deadlines while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

QUALIFICATIONS

- 4+ years of experience performing mechanical, piping, or plumbing takeoffs.
- Strong understanding of commercial,



industrial, and institutional piping systems.
- Ability to accurately quantify piping, fittings, valves, equipment, supports, and related materials.
- Robust ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, piping drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience with estimating and/or takeoff software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Experience with CAD and/or Revit is an asset.
- Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tender packages and meet tight deadlines.
- Mechanical, construction, or related technical education is an asset.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

We are looking for someone who is highly detail-oriented and has strong hands-on experience with mechanical and piping takeoffs.

You should be comfortable reviewing a set of drawings, understanding the piping scope, accurately quantifying materials, and providing a well-organized takeoff that allows the estimating team to build a competitive and accurate bid.

Piping takeoff experience is the primary focus of this position.
