At Pet Valu, we’re not just pet experts, we’re pet lovers, too! As a Sales Associate, you’ll help pet parents find the right food, treats, toys, and supplies to keep their pets happy and healthy. You’ll provide exceptional customer service, share your knowledge, and help create a welcoming shopping experience that keeps customers coming back.

We’re looking for someone who enjoys interacting with people, is eager to learn about pet nutrition and care, and takes pride in keeping the store clean, organized, and fully stocked. If you love animals and enjoy working in a fast-paced retail environment, we’d love to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Sales

- Greet customers warmly and provide friendly, personalized service.
- Engage with pet parents to understand their needs and recommend suitable pet food, treats, toys, accessories, and other pet care products.
- Develop product knowledge to help customers make informed decisions about their pets’ nutrition and well-being.
- Promote current sales, promotions, and featured products.
- Build positive relationships with customers and contribute to a welcoming, community-focused store environment.

Cashiering & Store Operations

- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently, including processing cash, debit, and credit card transactions.
- Answer phone calls, respond to customer inquiries, and assist with store-related requests.
- Receive, unpack, organize, and replenish merchandise to ensure shelves remain well stocked.
- Assist with inventory management, merchandising, and maintaining attractive product displays.
- Help unload deliveries and stock bags of pet food and other supplies, including lifting heavier items as required.

Store Cleanliness & Teamwork





- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized sales floor, stockroom, and checkout area.
- Complete opening, closing, and general store maintenance duties as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with team members to support daily store operations and deliver excellent customer service.
- Follow store procedures and contribute to a positive, professional work environment.
- Perform other duties as required to support the store’s success.

Qualifications & Skills

- A genuine love for animals and a passion for helping pets live happy, healthy lives.
- Strong communication and customer service skills, with a friendly and approachable personality.
- Previous retail or customer service experience is an asset.
- Personal or professional experience with pets is an asset.
- Willingness to learn about pet nutrition, products, and general pet care.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple responsibilities.
- Reliable, punctual, organized, and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with POS systems are an asset.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift, carry, and stock pet food bags and other merchandise, including items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
- Reliable transportation to and from the store.
