St. Joseph’s Villa Dundas is currently seeking a Resident Care Manager (RPN) for the Evening/Night shift to join our growing and dynamic team!

The successful applicant for this position would work Monday - Friday 10:30pm to 6:30am.

While upholding the Villa’s Mission, Vision and Values, the Resident Care Manager (RCM) reports to the Director(s) of Care for the operations of the Department of Nursing and Personal Care Services. The RCM will assist and ensure the delivery of optimal care and services based on legislative requirements and standards, as well as staff education.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

- Performs all duties in accordance with legislation, the Mission, Vision and Values Statement, Organizational and Management Philosophies and administrative policies and standards of St. Joseph's Villa.
- Attends interdisciplinary team huddles for falls, and other risk related rounds, completes related documentation
- Is able to identify, prioritize and respond appropriately to frequent and sometimes conflicting demands.




- Ensures that clinical and resident records are maintained according to approved policies and standards.
- Participates in the Administrator on Call roster as a member of the Nurse Management Team.
- Responsible for the coordination of equipment to meet resident’s needs (alarms/bedrails, crash mats etc).
- Responsible for the day to day operations and quality resident care on the home area with oversight and management of nursing staff.
- Participates in orientation, supervision and evaluation of staff through performance appraisals.
- Plays an integral role in the development of policies and standards for the Department of Nursing.
- Liaises and consults with families/residents, staff, residents and other professionals to support resident clinical care.
- Identify nursing department learning needs and make provisions for appropriate education and continuing staff development, with focus on specialized care and clinical assessments
- Oversee resident clinical assessment by staff, to ensure that resident needs are met, ensure that all referrals and documentation is completed in a manner that maximizes client focus.
- Knowledge of the LTCHA, 2007 and the required programs.




- Knowledge of current Infection Prevention and Control Practices.
- Support and enhance specialized care services through education and clinical support for skills such as but not limited to intravenous therapy, wound care, hypodermoclysis, and injectable medications.
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

FORMAL EDUCATION:

- Registered Practical Nurse with a current membership with the College of Nurses required
- Leadership and management in Long Term Care preferred
- Experience in organizational management and/or Long-Term Care is preferred
- Effective computer skills and knowledge related to Electronic Health Records and Clinical Informatics
- Excellent customer services and communication skills
- Sound labour relations skills and knowledge with union collectives
