Job Overview

- Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks for children in a daycare setting.
- Follow established menus, dietary instructions, and food safety procedures while maintaining a clean, organized kitchen.
- Work collaboratively with daycare staff to support a safe, welcoming mealtime experience for children.

Responsibilities

- Plan and prepare meals and snacks according to approved menus and children’s dietary needs and Canada’s Food Guide.
- Cook food in appropriate quantities and serve meals in a timely, child-friendly manner.
- Follow food handling, storage, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Keep kitchen surfaces, utensils, and equipment clean and orderly.
- Monitor food supplies, assist with inventory, and notify the appropriate staff when items need replenishing.
- Coordinate with daycare staff about meal schedules, allergies, and special dietary requirements.
- Support a calm, positive dining environment and follow the daycare’s health and safety procedures.





Skills

- Experience with menu planning, cooking, food preparation, and meal preparation specifically for children 0 - 4 years old.
- Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation, and food safety practices.
- Serving experience and the ability to work considerately around young children.
- Food service experience is preferred; restaurant, kitchen, or broader food industry experience is a plus.
- Solid organization, attention to detail, and time-management skills.
- Ability to follow menus and dietary instructions, maintain a clean workspace, and work cooperatively with a team.

Requirements

- Food Handler’s Certificate
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check
- First Aid & CPR
- Up to date Immunizations

Pay: $17.95-$20.00 per hour
