General Accountant

Job Description & Key responsibilities:

The General Accountant will provide service to both external customers and also support internal management. The General Accountant will assist in all accounting policies, procedures and processes.

Specific responsibilities include:

- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Revenue analysis and reporting to internal and external stakeholders
- Support the Sales team in providing sales reports and metrics as requested
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts and report actuals against forecasts.
- Assist with reconciling several general ledger accounts monthly, post adjusting journal entries as needed, and track financial transactions
- Coordinate month-end closing activities, investigate variances, and prepare accruals as needed
- Develop and maintain a concise financial dashboard highlighting KPIs
- Assist with Intercompany reconciliations
- Assist with bank reconciliations on a weekly basis
- Assist with monthly GST/EHT tax filing calculations, ensuring compliance with local tax laws, and assist with internal or external auditors
- Assist with product pricing analysis and reporting
- Assist in coordinating and participating in physical inventory counts; investigate variances as needed and prepare adjusting entries
- Assist in process improvement and internal control development
- Ad hoc accounting activities as requested

Competencies:

- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience




- Minimum 3 years of relevant financial analysis or accounting experience
- Proficient computer skills; Advanced Excel user
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Good understanding of Accounting software and systems SAP and Sage50 preferred
- Developed interpersonal skills, good team player
- Superior organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and deadlines, works well under pressure and has a sense of urgency
- Maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to keep financial information confidential and demonstrate a high level of integrity
- The successful candidate will be interested in the business and have hands-on approach and be involved with reshaping the business

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000 per annum
