Help franchisees build stronger, more profitable restaurants
Are you an experienced restaurant operator who knows how to turn performance data into practical improvements?
Can you earn an owner’s trust, coach a manager through a challenge, and help a restaurant team deliver a better guest experience?
Grinner’s Food Systems Limited is looking for a Franchise Business Coach to support Greco Pizza and Capt. Submarine locations across an assigned territory. This opportunity is suited to a successful multi-unit manager, district manager, franchise consultant, or restaurant operations leader ready to make a broader impact.
About Grinner’s
Proudly Atlantic Canadian owned and operated, Grinner’s Food Systems Limited is the franchisor of Greco Pizza and Capt. Submarine. Our brands bring together traditional recipes, quality ingredients, and a commitment to consistent guest experiences.
Our franchisees are central to our success. We support them through practical coaching, explicit operating standards, and a shared focus on restaurant performance.
The Opportunity
As Franchise Business Coach, you will help franchisees strengthen sales, profitability, team capability, and operational execution.
You will take ownership of a regular cycle of restaurant visits, business reviews, training, and follow-up. Success requires both commercial judgment and hands-on restaurant experience: understanding what the numbers reveal, identifying the underlying issues, and helping operators put workable solutions into practice.
What You Will Do
Drive restaurant performance
- Review restaurant sales, food costs, labour costs, guest feedback, and operating results to identify opportunities.
- Help franchisees develop practical business improvement plans with clear priorities, responsibilities, and timelines.
- Coach operators on inventory management, portion control, waste reduction, scheduling, productivity, and local sales opportunities.
- Track progress and follow through to ensure agreed actions produce results.
Build productive franchisee relationships
- Serve as the primary operations contact for franchisees within your territory.
- Build credibility through sound advice, consistent communication, and reliable follow-up.
- Lead business reviews that recognize successes, address performance gaps, and establish next steps.
- Handle difficult conversations professionally, balancing franchisee relationships with accountability to brand standards.
Strengthen restaurant execution
- Conduct structured restaurant visits to assess food quality, food safety, cleanliness, service, and brand execution.
- Provide hands-on coaching to franchisees, managers, and restaurant teams.
- Identify recurring operational issues and help operators address their causes.
- Document findings, agree on corrective actions, and verify completion.
Develop restaurant capability
- Identify training needs and deliver coaching that improves managers’ confidence and effectiveness.
- Support franchisees with recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management practices.
- Reinforce the consistent use of operating procedures, recipes, preparation guides, and service standards.
- Help operators build capable teams and maintain a positive, accountable workplace.
Support growth and change
- Support new restaurant openings, ownership transitions, and operational improvement initiatives.
- Help restaurants prepare for menu changes, promotions, technology implementations, and pilot programs.
- Coordinate with marketing, IT, procurement, and training teams to resolve issues and support execution.
- Bring practical field feedback forward to improve systems and franchise support.
What You Bring
Required qualifications
- At least five years of progressive restaurant operations experience, including two or more years supporting multiple locations in a district, area, franchise, or comparable leadership role.
- Demonstrated success improving restaurant sales, controllable costs, operating standards, or guest satisfaction.
- Ability to interpret restaurant profit-and-loss statements and translate findings into clear actions.
- Hands-on knowledge of food safety, inventory control, food costing, labour management, and restaurant service.
- Strong coaching and communication skills, including the ability to influence independent business owners.
- Excellent organization, sound judgment, and the ability to manage an assigned territory independently.
- Confidence using spreadsheets, POS reports, and restaurant management systems.
- A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays as required.
Additional assets
- Experience in franchised QSR, pizza, delivery, or takeout operations.
- Experience supporting restaurant openings, turnarounds, or technology rollouts.
- Current food safety certification.
- Post-secondary education in business, hospitality, or a related field.
What Success Looks Like
- Franchisees view you as a trusted, effective business partner.
