Role Description – Accounting Manager

Alinea Land Corporation is seeking a full-time, on-site Accounting Manager based in Burlington, ON.

We are seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to join our growing real estate and land development company.

Reporting directly to the CFO, the Accounting Manager will play a key role in the day-to-day accounting operations of the business, including financial reporting, month-end close, budgeting support, treasury administration, and project accounting.

This position is ideal for a proactive accounting professional who enjoys working in a lean, entrepreneurial environment where they can take ownership of a broad range of responsibilities across multiple real estate asset classes and development projects.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Accounting

- Prepare and post journal entries.
- Complete monthly bank and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules across multiple entities.
- Maintain general ledger integrity and ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Assist in the preparation of annual financial statements and audit working papers.
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other consultants as required.
- Prepare HST and other regulatory filings.

Real Estate & Development Accounting

- Perform accounting for retail, industrial, development, and holding company entities.
- Track development and construction costs across multiple projects.
- Assist with project budgeting and cost monitoring.
- Maintain intercompany accounts and reconciliations.




- Support tenant recoveries, year-end recoveries, and other property accounting functions.

Treasury, Financing & Cash Management

- Assist with cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning.
- Maintain debt and financing schedules.
- Monitor loan balances, interest payments, maturity dates, and financing obligations.
- Assist with lender reporting requirements.
- Support construction financing draws and funding requests.
- Monitor covenant reporting and compliance requirements.

Budgeting & Financial Analysis

- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Prepare budget-to-actual variance analysis.
- Support acquisition, development, and financing analyses.
- Prepare management reports and financial summaries for senior leadership.
- Assist with ad hoc financial modelling and special projects.

Process Improvement & Systems

- Document and improve accounting processes and controls.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through technology and automation.
- Support enhancements to Yardi and related financial systems.
- Assist with implementation of new reporting and management tools.

Qualifications

Required

- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience.
- Experience preparing full-cycle monthly financial statements.
- Strong understanding of accrual accounting and month-end close procedures.
- Advanced Excel skills.
- Management of full cycle accounting.
- Robust organizational and analytical abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.

Preferred

- CPA designation or working toward completion.
- Experience within real estate, land development, construction, or property management.
- Experience with Yardi or similar real estate accounting software.
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Experience managing multiple legal entities and intercompany transactions.

Position: Accounting Manager Reports to: VP of Finance

Core hours: Monday to Friday from 8am – 5pm

Salary Range: $85K - $100K per year depending on experience and qualifications

Pay: $85,000.00-$100,000.00 per year
