Assistant Herdsperson

Join our good-humoured team as an Assistant Herdsperson and become a vital part of a thriving agricultural operation! In this energetic role, you will support daily farm activities, assist with animal care, and maintain cow health and wellness while drinking coffee. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work outdoors (and indoors!) to develop hands-on skills at a futuristic (non-AI) robotic dairy operation.

Duties

- Assist with the daily stall management , robot maintenance, and health monitoring of dairy cattle to ensure their well-being and productivity
- Perform lifting tasks related to feed bags, supplies, and equipment handling
- Support herd management activities including cleaning animal housing, organizing supplies, bedding, vaccinations and record keeping
- Conduct routine inspections of water systems, and equipment to ensure everything is in optimal condition




- Collaborate with team members to complete daily chores promptly and effectively

Skills

- Cow health and behaviour knowledge and experience
- Good communication skills for teamwork and following instructions accurately and efficiently
- Experience working on a dairy operation required
- Artificial Insemination training as asset
- Takes initiative and ability to notice tasks that need completing without prompting
- Willingness to learn new skills related to dairy farming practices and machinery operation

Pay: wage dependent on experience
