Position Summary The Barista is responsible for the entire bar and front counter station, balancing comprehensive guest service with core barista duties. Along with the daily execution of coffee and other beverage offerings, you will ensure the highest quality while maintaining speed of service and strict adherence to recipe specifications. As a key hospitality ambassador for the cafe, your duties extend beyond the espresso machine; you will warmly greet guests, take to-go orders, package pastries, and prepare beverages efficiently during peak service hours.

In addition to setting up the espresso bar and maintaining impeccable cleanliness, you are responsible for minimizing waste, operating within scheduled hours, and working seamlessly with the broader culinary and front-of-house teams to deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Core ResponsibilitiesBeverage Production & Quality Control

- Execute daily service on the espresso bar, ensuring all coffees, teas, and specialty beverages are prepared consistently, accurately, and to the highest quality standards.
- Set up and stock the barista station with all necessary supplies and prep prior to service.
- Strictly adhere to all daily and weekly cleaning schedules and deep-cleaning checklists, ensuring the espresso machine, grinders, workstations, and shared cafe areas consistently meet the highest health and sanitation standards.

Cost Control & Inventory Management

- Strictly follow portion controls and recipe specifications to ensure costs are met and waste is minimized.
- Track and log all wastage (e.g., spilled milk, improperly pulled shots) daily.
- Communicate ingredient shortages to the Cafe Manager promptly.
- Labor Management: Complete all opening, service,



and closing duties efficiently within scheduled shifts to protect labor margins. Complete duties efficiently and work collaboratively with management to identify operational solutions if overtime hours exceed standard expectations.

Service Execution & Station Management

- Take complete ownership of your designated station and responsibilities, demonstrating accountability for the quality of your output, the cleanliness of your workspace, and the efficient execution of all daily duties.
- Adapt to the changing flow of service and efficiently manage multiple drink orders simultaneously without compromising quality or presentation (e.g., latte art).
- Provide genuine hospitality and engaging customer service, making patrons feel welcome while accurately taking orders and handling transactions when required.

Team Collaboration & Cafe Support

- Provide support to the front-of-house team as requested during slower service periods, including running food, busing tables, or assisting the pastry counter.
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen staff to ensure smooth communication and timely execution of combined food and beverage orders.
- Help with general preparation tasks, station breakdown, and closing duties to ensure an efficient daily flow.

Compensation and Benefits

- $19-$22 per hour based on experience, plus $7-$10 average shared tip pool.
