Build Something Great With Us.
At Knox Contracting Group, we're not interested in being just another construction company. We're building a team of talented people who take pride in their work, value relationships, and genuinely enjoy what they do.
We're growing, and we're looking for an experienced Commercial Project Manager to join our team and help lead some exciting projects across Vancouver Island.
From ground-up, freestanding commercial buildings to high-end medical and dental tenant improvements, our commercial division delivers challenging, detail-oriented projects where quality, communication, and execution matter.
If you're someone who thrives on solving problems, keeping projects moving, and bringing great people together to get the job done, we'd love to meet you.
The Role
As our Commercial Project Manager, you'll take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to completion. You'll be the driving force behind successful project delivery, ensuring schedules, budgets, subcontractors, and client expectations are all managed effectively.
You'll work alongside our leadership team, site superintendents, subcontractors, and clients to deliver projects we're proud to put the Knox name on.
Your projects will include:
- Ground-up construction of freestanding commercial buildings.
- Medical and dental office construction and tenant improvements.
- Commercial interior renovations and tenant fit-outs.
- Specialized commercial construction projects requiring detailed coordination and scheduling.
What You'll Be Doing Project Leadership & Execution
- Manage multiple commercial construction projects from start to finish.
- Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and construction plans.
- Coordinate site superintendents, subcontractors, suppliers, consultants, and clients.
- Lead project meetings and ensure clear communication between all stakeholders.
- Identify potential challenges early and develop solutions before they become problems.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely,
on time, on budget, and to Knox's quality standards.
Financial Management
- Take ownership of project budgets, cost tracking, and financial performance.
- Manage purchase orders, subcontractor agreements, and change orders.
- Monitor project profitability and prepare accurate cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Review subcontractor invoices and progress claims.
- Ensure project financial reporting is accurate, current, and transparent.
Client Relationships
- Be the primary point of contact for your projects.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, and trade partners.
- Maintain proactive communication and provide regular project updates.
- Manage expectations professionally while protecting the interests of both the client and Knox.
- Help build long-term relationships that lead to repeat business and referrals.
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who's confident managing commercial construction projects, understands the business side of construction, and knows how to lead people without needing to be micromanaged.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- 5+ years of construction project management experience, preferably in commercial construction.
- Experience with ground-up commercial buildings and/or medical and dental tenant improvements.
- Robust understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, budgeting, and subcontractor management.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, mechanical, and electrical drawings.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong financial awareness and understanding of project profitability.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with Buildertrend, Procore, or similar project management software is an asset.
- A valid driver's licence.
Just as importantly, you're someone who:
- Takes ownership rather than making excuses.
- Understands that communication is everything.
- Can make decisions and keep projects moving.
- Treats clients, trades, and teammates with respect.
- Knows when to roll up their sleeves and get involved.
- Wants to be part of building something bigger than themselves.
Why Join Knox? We're a growing construction group with ambitious plans, an experienced leadership team, and a commitment to doing things differently.
We believe great people deserve the freedom to do great work, the support to succeed, and opportunities to grow alongside the company.
Here's what you can expect:
- Competitive salary based on experience.
- Extended health and dental benefits.
- Paid vacation.
- Opportunities for performance-based incentives.
- A strong pipeline of diverse and interesting commercial projects.
- Support from an experienced construction leadership team.
- Real autonomy and ownership over your projects.
- Opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
- A company culture built around Trust, Integrity, and Transparency.
And most importantly, you'll be joining a team that works hard, supports each other, celebrates wins, and knows how to have a little fun along the way. Interested? Let's Talk.
We're not looking for someone who simply wants another project management job. We're looking for someone who wants to make an impact, take ownership, and help us continue building a commercial construction division we're proud of.
If that sounds like you, we'd love to hear from you.
