About Us
At OKG Childcare Academy, we believe that children thrive when they feel safe, supported, and genuinely cared for. We are a newly opened childcare centre in downtown Kelowna, and we are excited to continue building a team of passionate educators who share our love for early childhood education.
We take pride in creating a warm, welcoming environment where children are encouraged to explore, build relationships, develop independence, and learn through play. Just as importantly, we believe in creating a positive and supportive workplace where our educators feel valued, respected, and excited to come to work each day.
We are currently looking for a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Early Childhood Educator with Infant/Toddler certification to join our growing team.
About the Position
As an Infant/Toddler Educator at OKG, you will play an important role in helping our youngest learners feel comfortable, confident, and supported as they explore the world around them.
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys working with infants and toddlers, understands the importance of building secure attachments, and recognizes that every child develops at their own pace.
Our ideal candidate is patient, dependable, creative, and comfortable working as part of a team. We want someone who brings fresh ideas into the classroom, isn't afraid to get down on the floor and play, and understands that some of the most meaningful learning happens during everyday moments.
Please note that we are exclusively seeking applicants who hold a valid BC Infant/Toddler Educator (ITE) certification.
While we appreciate the interest of all Early Childhood Educators, we are only considering candidates who currently hold their Infant/Toddler certification. Applicants with ECE or ECEA certification alone will not be considered for this position.
We kindly ask that you only apply if you meet this requirement.
Your Responsibilities
- Create a safe,
nurturing, and engaging classroom environment where every child feels welcomed and supported.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with children and their families.
- Plan and implement fun, age-appropriate, play-based activities that encourage children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
- Support infants and toddlers through daily routines, including feeding, diapering, toileting, rest time, and transitions.
- Encourage independence, curiosity, and confidence while respecting each child's individual needs and developmental abilities.
- Observe and document children's learning, interests, and developmental milestones.
- Work collaboratively with fellow educators to create meaningful learning experiences inspired by the BC Early Learning Framework.
- Communicate openly and professionally with families, sharing their child's accomplishments, experiences, and any concerns.
- Support children with diverse abilities and additional needs through inclusive, individualized approaches.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting classroom while following all health, safety, and childcare licensing requirements.
- Contribute to a positive team setting by supporting your coworkers, sharing ideas, and working together to provide the best possible care.
What We're Looking For
- Valid BC Early Childhood Educator certification with Infant/Toddler Educator qualifications.
- A genuine passion for working with infants and toddlers.
- A strong understanding of child development and play-based learning.
- Experience working in a licensed childcare setting is an asset.
- Familiarity with the BC Early Learning Framework.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- A patient, compassionate, and flexible approach to working with young children.
- The ability to work independently while also being a supportive and reliable team member.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Comfort using technology for daily documentation, observations, and parent communication.
- A willingness to learn, grow, and contribute to the continued development of our centre.
Why Join OKG Childcare Academy? As a new childcare centre, we have an exciting opportunity to build something special together. We want our educators to feel comfortable bringing their personalities, creativity, and ideas into their classrooms.
We understand that working in childcare can be both incredibly rewarding and challenging, and we believe that having a supportive, collaborative team makes all the difference.
At OKG, we value open communication, teamwork, mutual respect, and creating an environment where both children and educators can thrive.
If you are someone who loves working with young children, takes pride in the care you provide, and wants to be part of a growing team that genuinely cares about what they do, we would love to hear from you!
We look forward to meeting you and learning more about what you could bring to the OKG Childcare Academy team.
