Do you have strong diagnostic and repair skills with aerial lifts and forklifts? Are you hands-on, detail-oriented, and confident troubleshooting complex electrical and hydraulic systems across both access equipment and material handling machines?
Summit Equipment Ltd. is looking for an experienced Aerial Lift & Forklift Technician to join our team. We specialize in service, diagnostics, and rebuilds of aerial lifts, telehandlers, and forklifts. This is a shop-based position in our fully equipped Hamilton facility, with occasional field service as required.
We’re looking for a technician who takes pride in doing the job right — someone who enjoys solving problems, working independently, and helping raise the bar for quality workmanship across both aerial and material handling equipment.

- Service internal combustion forklifts, including gasoline, propane, and diesel engines, fuel systems, and drivetrain components.
- Use OEM diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve system faults across both equipment types.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams, hydraulic schematics, and service manuals.
- Complete accurate service reports and documentation for each job.
- Occasionally respond to off-site service calls (service truck provided).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Preferred Experience
- Hands-on experience working on both aerial lifts and forklifts (material handling equipment).
- Proficiency using OEM tools such as:
- Genie Tech Pro Link / Genie Web GPI
- JLG Analyzer Tool or Mobile Analyzer App
- Skyjack SJ Analyzer or EZCal Analyzer
- Experience with forklift diagnostic systems (Curtis, ZAPI, Sevcon, etc.) is a strong asset.
- Strong understanding of:
- CAN bus systems, sensors, and controllers
- Platform control systems and safety circuits (aerial lifts)
- Forklift control systems, traction systems, and lift hydraulics
- DC/AC electrical systems and battery management (especially electric forklifts)
- Internal combustion engine systems (gas, propane, diesel)
- Ability to interpret and apply electrical and hydraulic schematics to diagnose faults.
- Welding and light fabrication skills are an asset.
- WHMIS, Working at Heights, and Aerial Work Platform certifications (or willingness to obtain).
Requirements
- Proven mechanical experience repairing aerial lifts, forklifts, or similar heavy equipment.
- Strong diagnostic ability across electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical systems.
