Compton Ave. is seeking a Host to manage the guest experience at the door and coordinate the flow of service throughout the evening. This role is essential in setting the tone for every guest interaction, ensuring reservations, seating arrangements, and service pacing are executed efficiently while maintaining a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

Responsibilities:

- Deliver a warm, polished, and engaging first impression, ensuring every guest feels welcomed and attended to from the moment of arrival
- Manage reservations using the designated booking platform, coordinating seating arrangements and pacing to support efficient service
- Act as the first point of contact for guests, representing Compton Ave.'s standards of hospitality, professionalism, and attention to detail
- Provide guests with an introduction to the venue, answering questions about the concept, menus, and reservation policies
- Coordinate walk-ins, waitlists, reservation modifications, and seating availability throughout service
- Communicate consistently with servers, bartenders, and management to ensure smooth seating transitions and accurate table availability
- Anticipate guest needs by reviewing reservation notes, identifying special occasions, and accommodating requests whenever possible
- Maintain high standards of etiquette, communication, and guest interaction at all times
- Assist with VIP reservations, special occasions, private events, and large-party bookings,



ensuring relevant details are communicated to the service team
- Maintain composure and professionalism in a rapid-paced, high-volume environment while balancing multiple priorities
- Address guest inquiries and concerns professionally, escalating issues to management when appropriate
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the entrance, host stand, menus, and surrounding guest-facing areas
- Support the FOH team with additional service-related duties as required

Qualifications:

- 2+ years of hospitality experience required, preferably in an upscale restaurant, cocktail bar, or high-volume dining environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage guests confidently and professionally
- Polished presentation and a professional demeanour consistent with Compton Ave.'s hospitality standards
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to coordinate reservations, seating plans, and guest flow simultaneously
- Ability to remain composed and adaptable under pressure while managing competing priorities
- Experience with reservation platforms such as OpenTable, Resy, or SevenRooms is an asset
- Strong understanding of restaurant service flow, table management, and the importance of pacing in delivering a seamless guest experience
- Reliable, punctual, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively with the FOH team
- Open availability, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and late-night service
