About the Role

MT>Align is seeking an experienced Corporate & Commercial Lawyer based in Calgary to support a client in the energy sector.

The successful candidate will provide legal support across a broad range of commercial and project-related matters, working closely with business, commercial, and project teams on matters spanning project development, acquisitions, construction, operations, and asset management.

This role offers the opportunity to work on sophisticated and commercially significant matters while enjoying the flexibility and autonomy of a contract-based engagement model.





This opportunity is well suited to lawyers with robust commercial contracting skills who enjoy partnering with business teams and delivering practical, solutions-oriented advice in complex project environments.

Matters may include

- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements
- Advising on project development and acquisition activities
- Supporting engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) arrangements
- Providing legal support in connection with operations and maintenance (O&M;) matters
- Advising on asset management, supply agreements, and subcontracting arrangements
- Identifying and managing contractual and commercial risks
- Supporting the resolution of claims, disputes, and related project issues
- Collaborating with business stakeholders to deliver practical, solutions-oriented legal advice

What You'll Bring

- Experience supporting complex commercial transactions and contracting matters.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills, including experience with sophisticated commercial agreements.
- Experience advising on project development, construction, infrastructure, industrial, or other project-based matters.
- Sound business judgement and a practical, solutions-oriented approach to legal issues.
- Strong interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a business-facing role.
