About Lexo:
Every client relationship starts somewhere. Lexo is the trusted front door.
We're a Canadian legal technology company helping law firms modernize the way they work. More than 100 Canadian law firms trust Lexo to make the first interaction with a new client simpler, more secure and more efficient.
Clients go through a single guided, branded flow with no sign-in. In that one flow they complete their intake, verify their identity in a way that meets FINTRAC and Law Society requirements, and sign their retainer. Behind the scenes, Lexo replaces manual data entry with automation and gives firms real-time visibility into every file. It also follows up with clients automatically, so lawyers can spend their time practising law.
Lexo supports real estate, wills and estates, family, corporate, immigration, litigation, employment and personal injury practices, in English and French. Client data is stored securely in Canada, and the platform has already handled tens of thousands of legal matters.
We're growing across engineering, customer success and sales, and this is a chance to join early and help shape the product.
The role:
Build production features that real law firms rely on every day, with real ownership and mentorship from your first week.
You'll work directly with our Tech Lead on a production TypeScript codebase. One repository holds the web app, the API and a browser extension, and you'll work across all of them. You'll get real features to build from your first weeks,
with code review and mentorship on everything you ship.
This role suits someone who has built a few things on their own and wants to learn how a production system is designed, tested and maintained.
What you'll do:
- Build and improve features in our React web app, which law firms and their clients use every day: intake forms, dashboards, approval flows and more
- Write API endpoints and background jobs on Cloudflare Workers, backed by Postgres
- Write database migrations and queries, and learn how to change a live schema safely
- Contribute to Lexo Connect, our Chrome extension that automatically fills Lexo data into conveyancing software
- Fix bugs reported by law firms, working out the cause from the UI down to the database
- Write tests and keep the codebase clean, typed and consistent
- Use AI coding tools (our team works in VS Code with Claude Code) to move faster, while still understanding and taking responsibility for the code you ship
Our stack:
- Language: TypeScript everywhere
- Frontend: React, Vite, Material UI, TanStack React Query, Zustand
- Backend: Hono on Cloudflare Workers, Cloudflare Workflows, R2 and KV
- Database: PostgreSQL (Supabase) with Drizzle ORM
- Tooling: Bun monorepo, Vitest, Oxlint and Oxfmt
- Integrations: Stripe, SendGrid, Azure AD B2C, identity verification and OCR services
You don't need experience with every technology listed. If you know TypeScript and React, you'll pick up the rest here.
What we're looking for:
Required:
- Solid fundamentals in JavaScript or TypeScript
- Experience building with React, from personal projects, coursework, a bootcamp or professional work
- A basic understanding of how web apps work end to end: HTTP, REST APIs and relational databases
- Comfort with Git and pull requests
- Clear written communication. We're remote, so a lot of collaboration happens in writing
- Curiosity, attention to detail and a willingness to ask questions
Nice to have:
- A degree in Computer Science or a related field (preferred, but not required)
- Experience in legal tech, or familiarity with how law firms operate (preferred, but not required)
- Exposure to serverless platforms such as Cloudflare Workers, AWS Lambda or Vercel
- SQL beyond the basics: joins, indexes, migrations
- Experience with Material UI or another component library
- Experience building browser extensions
- Experience using AI coding assistants in your workflow
What we offer:
- Market-competitive salary
- Health spending account
- Equity
- Full-time, fully remote within Canada
- Direct mentorship from the Tech Lead, with no layers of management in between
- Real ownership: your code reaches users quickly, and you'll see the impact
- A modern, well-documented, strongly typed codebase to learn from
