Lead Legal Aid Services in Happy Valley-Goose Bay using legal supervision, case assignment, and compliance expertise. The position includes a reduced Staff Solicitor caseload. As Area Director, you will act as the Provincial Director’s delegate for the area office. You will direct staff solicitors and legal administrative staff while ensuring compliance with the Legal Aid Act, Regulations, and Policy Manual. The work includes Family and Criminal Law responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:

Direct staff solicitor resources and assignments Set priorities for solicitors and administrative staff Mentor solicitors across various areas of law Oversee intake, queues, conflicts, and office duties Review reports, appeals, complaints, and compliance matters Requirements:

Recognized law degree Membership in good standing with Newfoundland and Labrador Law Society Minimum five years at the bar Extensive Family and Criminal Law experience Robust communication, organization, judgment, and confidentiality Apply legal leadership, Family and Criminal Law experience, and sound judgment as Area Director for Legal Aid Services.
