Summary

We are seeking a Nursery Manager to oversee our nursery. This hands-on position runs the day-to-day operation — keeping stock healthy, propagating and repotting plants, and maintaining a clean, organized site. The role is worked independently most of the time, with additional help available when needed.

Responsibilities

- Manage daily nursery operations, including plant care and inventory.
- Care for nursery stock: watering, fertilizing, pruning, and monitoring for pests or disease.
- Take clippings and propagate recent plants from cuttings, division, or seed.
- Repot and transplant plants as they grow, selecting appropriate pots and soil mixes.
- Assess plant health and growth stages to decide when stock is ready for sale or job sites.
- Keep the nursery clean, organized, and well laid out — benches, aisles, storage areas, and tools.
- Track inventory and label plants clearly so stock is easy to find and identify.
- Receive, inspect, and stage incoming plant deliveries.
- Prepare and stage plants for pickup or delivery to job sites.
- Maintain irrigation systems and basic nursery equipment.




- Assist in sourcing quality materials and plants for projects.
- Contribute to the planning and design of landscape features.
- Work independently on a daily basis, flagging the office or estimator when additional help, materials, or supplies are needed.

Qualifications
- Proven experience in horticulture.
- Strong, hands-on knowledge of plants, plant identification, soil types, and root systems.
- Experience propagating plants (cuttings, division, or similar techniques).
- Experience repotting and transplanting a range of plant sizes.
- Mechanical aptitude and ability to operate hand tools effectively.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a focus on keeping a clean, tidy work site.
- Physical ability for heavy lifting and outdoor work in all weather conditions.
- A valid driver's license is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications
- Horticulture training, certification, or equivalent hands-on experience.
- Previous experience in a nursery, garden center, or landscape setting.
- Familiarity with irrigation systems and basic nursery equipment maintenance.

Pay: $25.00-$35.00 per hour
