About Vision In Numbers
At Vision In Numbers Inc. (ViN), we believe great bookkeeping is about more than producing accurate numbers. It's about helping the people behind those numbers understand what they mean.
We're a Canadian bookkeeping and advisory firm supporting businesses and organizations with full-cycle bookkeeping, financial reporting, payroll, compliance, process improvement, and advisory services.
But what really defines us is our relationships.
We take the time to get to know our clients, their businesses, and their goals. We celebrate their successes, help them navigate challenges, and genuinely care about seeing them thrive.
We don't simply prepare financial statements and send them along. We help our clients understand what their numbers are telling them, answer their questions, and make sure they feel supported along the way.
That commitment extends beyond our clients to the communities we serve. We're actively involved in the Windsor-Essex business community and proud to have been recognized with four consecutive Platinum CommunityVotes Windsor awards for Best in Bookkeeping.
We believe that when local businesses succeed, our communities become stronger.
Empowering Businesses. Strengthening Communities.
The Opportunity
As Vision In Numbers continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced, client-focused Senior Bookkeeper to join our team.
This is an opportunity for someone who enjoys the technical side of bookkeeping just as much as the relationships that come with it.
You'll manage a portfolio of clients, take ownership of their monthly bookkeeping and reporting requirements, and become a trusted point of contact for the businesses and organizations you support.
We're looking for someone who takes pride in their work, enjoys solving problems, and understands that behind every set of financial statements is a business owner or organization relying on us to get it right.
You'll have the independence to manage your responsibilities while being part of a collaborative team that values communication, knowledge-sharing, and supporting one another.
What You'll Do
Your responsibilities will include
- Manage a portfolio of bookkeeping clients and their monthly deliverables.
- Perform and oversee full-cycle bookkeeping, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank and credit card reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare, review, and explain monthly financial statements.
- Identify unusual activity, trends, discrepancies, and matters requiring attention.
- Communicate proactively with clients, helping them understand their financial results in clear, approachable language.
- Process and review payroll, source deductions, and government remittances.
- Prepare, reconcile, and file HST returns.
- Manage CRA correspondence, inquiries, and compliance matters.
- Prepare complete fiscal year-end working papers and coordinate with external accountants and auditors through completion.
- Support bookkeeping cleanups, catch-up engagements, system transitions, and special projects.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Collaborate with and support other team members, sharing knowledge and providing guidance when appropriate.
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone with a strong technical foundation, but we don't believe a checklist of technical skills tells the whole story.
The right person for ViN genuinely enjoys working with people.
You're curious about your clients' businesses. You want to understand what's happening behind the numbers. You're comfortable having conversations with business owners and can explain financial information without making it feel intimidating.
You ask questions when something doesn't make sense. You take initiative, follow through on your commitments, and care about doing positive work because you understand the impact it has on the businesses and people we support.
Ideally, you'll bring:
- Approximately 5+ years of progressive full-cycle bookkeeping experience.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian bookkeeping practices.
- Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online.
- Experience preparing complete monthly financial statements.
- The ability to review, interpret, and explain financial information to clients.
- Experience with payroll, HST, and government remittances.
- Experience communicating with CRA.
- Familiarity with fiscal year-end preparation and working with external accountants.
- Strong reconciliation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple client files and competing deadlines.
- Confidence working independently in a remote environment.
- Sound professional judgment, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy.
We'd also love to see:
- Certified Qualified Bookkeeper (CPB) designation.
- QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor certification.
- Experience working within a bookkeeping, accounting, or qualified-services firm.
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients.
- Experience independently managing complex CRA matters and fiscal year-end or audit coordination.
- Experience with bookkeeping cleanup and catch-up engagements.
- Experience improving financial processes and internal controls.
- Experience mentoring or reviewing the work of other bookkeepers.
- Exposure to Controller-level or advisory responsibilities.
Don't Check Every Box? We recognize that great people don't always fit perfectly into a list of qualifications.
Technical knowledge can be developed, and we believe professional growth should be encouraged.
If you have a strong full-cycle bookkeeping foundation, enjoy working with clients, take pride in your work, and are eager to continue learning, we'd still love to hear from you.
We're looking for someone who connects with how we approach our work and genuinely wants to contribute to the success of our clients and our team.
What Success Looks Like at ViN
Success here isn't measured solely by whether the accounts reconcile. It's also reflected in the relationships you build.
Our clients should feel comfortable reaching out to you. They should understand the financial information we're providing and feel confident that they have someone on their side who genuinely cares about their business.
You'll ask questions when something doesn't make sense, investigate issues, and communicate what you've found.
You'll celebrate when a client has a great month and help them understand what happened when they don't.
You'll take ownership of your work while knowing there's an experienced team around you to collaborate with and lean on when needed.
And you'll recognize that accuracy, accountability, and meaningful communication are equally important parts of delivering excellent service.
Most importantly, you'll remember that there are people behind every set of numbers.
