The Opportunity

Node59 is looking for an experienced cloud architect who combines strong architectural knowledge with practical engineering expertise. This contract opportunity is open to senior professionals currently residing anywhere in Canada, with a remote workplace arrangement.

The ideal candidate can design complex cloud environments, make critical technical decisions, and lead implementations while remaining comfortable working directly with infrastructure and engineering teams.

The engagement is on an independent contractor basis. Specific assignments, start dates, and project terms are subject to agreement.

Cloud Architecture & Infrastructure

- Extensive experience with AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Designing scalable, secure, reliable, and resilient cloud architectures.
- Enterprise infrastructure modernization and cloud migration.
- Experience with hybrid cloud and complex enterprise environments.
- Solid understanding of cloud networking, identity management, security, and access controls.
- Experience making architectural decisions and defining technical standards.

Platform Engineering & DevOps
- Production experience with Kubernetes and Docker.
- Terraform and Infrastructure as Code.
- CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Cloud infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Monitoring, observability, reliability, and performance optimization.
- Infrastructure security, disaster recovery, and cost optimization.




- Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure and production environments.

Technical Leadership

- Experience leading complex cloud engineering projects.
- Ability to translate business requirements into practical technical solutions.
- Strong architectural judgment and problem solving skills.
- Experience communicating with enterprise clients and technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with engineering teams.
- Comfortable leading technical discussions and guiding implementation.

Required Experience

- Minimum 10 years of professional experience in software engineering, infrastructure, cloud engineering, or related technical disciplines.
- Minimum 5 years of practical experience designing and delivering production cloud environments.
- Demonstrated ownership of complex cloud architecture and infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience with at least one major cloud provider.
- Strong hands on experience with modern cloud infrastructure and automation technologies.
- Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and business stakeholders.
- Currently residing in Canada.
- Available to work as an independent contractor.

Preferred Qualifications

- Relevant AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud certifications.
- Previous experience delivering enterprise consulting engagements.
- Multicloud or hybrid cloud architecture experience.
- Experience leading infrastructure modernization or cloud migration initiatives.
- Familiarity with enterprise security and compliance requirements.
