Our services include access control, CCTV, intercom systems, structured cabling, cellular DAS, public-safety E-Comm DAS and other integrated building communication technologies.

As we continue to expand our wireless communications division, we are seeking a qualified Senior RF / E-Comm DAS Technician to join our team.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced, motivated RF technician with expertise in Distributed Antenna Systems (DAS), Bi-Directional Amplifiers (BDA) and public-safety radio communications.

The successful candidate will play an key role in the installation, testing, troubleshooting, commissioning and maintenance of E-Comm emergency responder radio coverage systems throughout Metro Vancouver.

Ideally, the candidate will have direct experience with E-Comm DAS systems and be capable of independently performing RF testing and commissioning. However, we will also consider experienced RF technicians with strong DAS backgrounds who are willing to undertake additional E-Comm-specific training.

Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, test and commission E-Comm public-safety DAS and BDA systems.
- Conduct RF site surveys and in-building radio coverage assessments.
- Perform RF sweep testing, cable loss measurements, antenna isolation testing and signal-strength verification.
- Troubleshoot RF interference, uplink noise,



signal degradation and coverage deficiencies.
- Configure and optimize BDA equipment, antennas, splitters, couplers and associated RF components.
- Assist with RF system design reviews and equipment selection.
- Prepare detailed commissioning reports, RF test results and system documentation.
- Coordinate system acceptance testing with E-Comm representatives, consultants and project stakeholders.
- Perform preventative maintenance, annual inspections and service troubleshooting.
- Work closely with Smart-Tek project managers and installation teams.
- Provide technical guidance and training to junior technicians.
- Ensure installations comply with applicable codes, technical standards and project specifications.

Qualifications and Experience

Required:

- Experience working with RF communications, wireless systems, DAS or BDA equipment.
- Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, signal propagation, attenuation and antenna systems.
- Experience using spectrum analyzers, cable and antenna analyzers, signal generators or similar RF test equipment.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, RF schematics and installation specifications.
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage assigned projects.
- Valid BC driver's licence.

Highly Desirable:

- Direct experience with E-Comm public-safety radio systems in British Columbia.




- Experience with P25 700/800 MHz emergency responder radio networks.
- Experience commissioning public-safety BDA/DAS systems.
- Knowledge of E-Comm technical requirements and acceptance procedures.
- Experience with iBwave design software.
- Familiarity with RF grid testing, uplink noise and antenna isolation requirements.
- Experience with cellular DAS systems.
- Previous experience with commercial high-rise buildings, residential towers, hospitals or institutional facilities.
