We are an established 40 year Plastic Bags Manufacturing Company located in Delta BC, Canada, in the process of hiring a Sr. Press Operator - Flexo Printing on Poly Film.

Position Overview

As a Senior flexo press operator, your primary duties are to Set Up the orders - including Mounting Plates, mixing Inks, Preparing the press - Run the printing presses - including QC Checks, continuous inspections, keeping speeds up, roll changing, refreshing inks, and more importantly troubleshooting any issues that might arise during printing.

You will also need to accurately read work orders and follow their specifications and guidelines, so attention to detail is one of the most critical skills to have.

A few years of training and/or hands-on experience working in the flexography industry is required. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience with complex printed set ups (Process Print CMYK), 6 Color CI and 6 / 4 Color Stack presses.

You will be expected to maintain standard production objectives in assisting and maintaining proper machine operation and general area cleanliness. You must adhere to all safety requirements as well as maintain a clean and organized workplace.

Summary

- Understand docket information to ensure proper job is produced
- Perform press make-readies to meet production requirements
- Complete printing Quality Checklist
- Review colours and graphics to what is on press
- Set up all colours in correct rotation to meet quality needs
- Blend and test inks, stains, and solvents according to work order specifications




- Ensure colour consistency throughout run
- Check sheet from every roll for registration, colour, printing defects and evenness of colours
- Use defect flagging when required. Document on Printing Quality checklist
- Maintain accurate counts - need good math skills
- Document all information pertaining to each job on the docket
- Be the First responder to troubleshoot press to help reduce downtime & inefficiencies
- Assist in the training of fellow printing employees
- Ensure that assigned equipment is properly maintained and in safe operating condition
- Maintain & adhere to safety standards (including P.P.E. requirements)
- Perform other duties as required

Qualifications:
- Technical knowledge of printing press processes and machines (formal training would be ideal)
- Mechanical aptitude and Safety Awareness
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts
- Good oral and written communications skills
- Ability to work individually as well as in a team environment
- Valuable organization skills and leadership skills
- Basic computer skills

Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Repetitive tasks, Handling heavy loads, Physically demanding, Manual dexterity, Attention to detail, Hand-eye coordination, Standing for extended periods, Handling Alcohol Solvents & Inks.

Job Requirements:

· Ability to perform repetitive lifting (up to 50-60 lbs frequently).

· Working knowledge of safe lifting methods (Forklift certification is an asset)
