At Eye Q Premium Laser, patient care comes first. Our surgical staff is an important part of this as they ensure patients are well informed and have a positive surgical experience. As a member of our surgical counselling team, you’ll be both an educator as well as a liaison between the surgeon, hospitals, co-managing doctors and our patients to help keep our commitment to providing premium patient care.

We are currently seeking an outgoing, multitasking individual with good interpersonal skills for the position of Surgical Counsellor. At Eye Q, we offer both medical and cosmetic (elective) ophthalmic surgical services and serve a wide range of people in the community therefore good organizational skills and the ability to work well in a fast-paced workplace is also required. As part of the Counselling team some of your responsibilities will include:

- Patient education regarding surgical procedures
- Fielding patient inquiries
- Booking surgery dates and follow-up appointments
- Documenting and collecting all pertinent patient information and data entry




- Preparing surgery charts and ordering lenses
- Consent patients for surgery
- Managing the patient process as a liaison between surgeon, co-managing doctor and the patient in all aspects of the pre and post-operative preparations

Qualifications:

- High school Diploma
- Strong communication skills
- Strong Organization skills with attention to details
- Ability to multi-task
- Able to work alone and as part of a team
- Intermediate computer skills (Microsoft office)
- 1-2 years experience in Optometry or Ophthalmology field required
- Experience with HealthQuest or other EMR considered an asset
