Our client is seeking a hands-on Credit & Collections Team Lead to oversee a team of collectors while actively managing a portfolio of key customer accounts. This is a blended leadership role that combines collections, credit adjudication, analytics, reporting, and team development.

The successful candidate will bring proven experience leading collections teams within a B2B environment, along with a strong ability to reduce aged receivables, resolve complex disputes, and build effective relationships with both customers and internal stakeholders. Key Responsibilities

- Lead, coach, and develop a team of Credit & Collections professionals.
- Establish performance expectations and manage team KPIs.
- Provide ongoing coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback.
- Support team members with escalated customer issues and complex collection matters.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer service excellence.
- Manage a portfolio of strategic and key customer accounts.
- Conduct collection activities through phone and email outreach.
- Follow up on overdue accounts and drive timely cash collection.
- Analyze aging reports and prioritize collection efforts.
- Investigate root causes of delinquent accounts and implement corrective actions.
- Partner with branch leaders, sales teams, and customer service to resolve billing and payment disputes.
- Improve DSO and reduce aged receivables
- Review customer credit applications and supporting documentation.
- Analyze credit reports and assess customer creditworthiness.
- Conduct credit reference checks and evaluate risk exposure.
- Approve credit requests within established authorization limits.
- Monitor customer credit limits and recommend changes as appropriate.




- Monitor portfolio performance and team productivity metrics.
- Prepare and analyze AR aging reports
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to improve collections performance.
- Provide recommendations to leadership based on analytical findings.
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives.
- Manage customer accounts through portal environments such as Coupa, Ariba, and other retailer/vendor portals.
- Work with national and big-box retail customers requiring portal-based dispute resolution and payment tracking.
- Ensure accurate account maintenance and documentation within ERP and AR systems.

Qualifications

- 5+ years of progressive experience in Credit & Collections within a B2B environment.
- Previous leadership experience managing a team of collectors.
- Hands-on collections experience with the ability to manage an active portfolio.
- Strong understanding of credit adjudication, credit analysis, and risk assessment.
- Experience reducing aged receivables and driving cash flow improvements.
- Proven ability to manage escalations and complex customer relationships.
- Experience working with large customer portfolios and high-volume accounts.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Experience with customer portals such as Ariba, Coupa, or similar platforms.
- CCP designation is considered an asset but is not required.
