ACCOUNTANT/BOOKKEEPER

(Full-time, Salary)

THE COMPANY

Eastern Safety Services provides first aid and safety training throughout the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. We are a leader in delivering first aid, health and safety program and services across many industries. In addition, we supply first aid, medical and industrial supplies, consulting and provide security and protective services. We work with clients in all sectors such as homecare, industrial worksites, the oil and gas, emergency services, and the marine and fishing industry.

DUTIES

Our Conception Bay South office is currently seeking an Accountant/Bookkeeper for regular weekly accounting and auditing purposes. If you excel in a challenging, dynamic environment, this is an excellent chance to showcase your talents.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities include:

- Preparation of financial statements and tax returns in accordance with CRA standards
- Conducting audits on current accounting including, but not limited to, invoices and payments.
- Preparation of tax returns (T1, T2s, T3s, T4s, T5s, GST/HST, Payroll Remittance)
- Effective communication with our clients, government agencies and with our directors, managers and staff
- Keeping Directors informed, on an ongoing basis of progress and significant issues
- Providing advice and training to other staff members on proper accounting techniques
- Participate in new business development initiatives
- Work with the Directors to complete payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, ROEs, year-end tax preparation
- Perform basic office administrative activities including, but not limited to, document control,



scanning, copying and maintaining files/records, answering telephone.
- Be active in the company’s Health and Safety Program.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Holding a 2+ year professional accounting designation, such as CPA is considered an asset, but not required.
- 3+ years of relevant midsize practice experience
- Must have experience with Sage accounting software
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Experience with inventory control

Additional Requirements:

- Ability to prioritize workloads and the flexibility to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Complete additional or assignments as required
- MUST be available for scheduled weekly hours, occasional weekend if required.

Experience:

- Accounting: 2 years (preferred)
