We are recruiting for a Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager on behalf of an established, privately owned business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced accounting qualified who enjoys being hands-on and taking ownership of the day-to-day accounting function. The role is best suited to someone who has progressed beyond a traditional bookkeeping position but still enjoys being directly involved in the numbers. You will oversee the accounting function and work closely with ownership/management. ResponsibilitiesManage the day-to-day accounting and financial functions of the businessPrepare monthly financial statements and management reportingComplete month-end and year-end closing activitiesMaintain and reconcile the general ledgerPrepare and review bank and balance sheet reconciliationsManage cash flow and provide visibility into upcoming requirementsOversee Accounts Receivable, collections and customer account reconciliationsSupervise and support one Accounts Payable employeeReview AP activity and ensure appropriate controls and approvals are followedPrepare HST and other government remittancesAssist with payroll-related accounting and reconciliationsMaintain fixed asset schedules and other supporting financial recordsSupport budgeting, forecasting and variance analysisWork with external accountants during year-endProvide ownership and management with accurate, timely financial informationIdentify opportunities to improve accounting processes,
controls and reportingQualifications5+ years of progressive accounting or full-cycle bookkeeping experienceStrong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, general ledger and month-endExperience preparing monthly financial statementsPrevious experience working in a privately owned, owner-managed or small-to-mid-sized business environment is strongly preferredExperience supervising or mentoring accounting staff is an assetStrong Excel skills and comfort working with accounting softwareHighly organized with strong attention to detailComfortable working independently and taking ownership of the accounting functionAble to communicate financial information clearly to non-accounting stakeholdersCPA track is preferredRobert Half is the world's first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
