Velora Labs is a Canadian-owned, Alberta-based computer vision and edge AI company building technology for applications that can’t afford to fail. Since 2022, our team has shipped production systems across defence, medical devices, autonomous systems, security, and industrial settings. We work with partners through co-development, custom engineering, and IP licensing. Our expertise spans GPS-denied navigation, sensor fusion, and AI optimized for NVIDIA, Qualcomm, and ARM edge platforms. The Role We’re looking for a hands-on Fractional Controller to own payroll, invoicing, reporting, and the forecasts that guide our hiring and program decisions. Much of our work is project-based and supported by funded R&D;, so clean cost tracking for SR&ED; and contribution agreements is key. What You’ll Do
• Maintain the books, lead month-end close, and prepare monthly reporting and reconciliations
• Run payroll, including remittances and T4s
• Create invoices from timesheets, send them, and follow up on payments
• Lead a weekly cash and A/R review, and maintain cash flow and hiring forecasts
• Prepare GST filings and coordinate with our external accountant on tax and year-end




• Keep labour and project cost records audit-ready for SR&ED;, grants, and contribution agreements What We’re Looking For
• [3–5+] years of hands-on experience with books, payroll, GST, and forecasting
• CPA (or working toward it) preferred
• Experience with SR&ED; or government grant cost tracking
• Proficient in [QuickBooks Online / Xero] and Excel or Google Sheets
• Organized, self-directed, and a clear communicator Assets
• Experience with Canadian technology or defence SMEs, especially R&D-heavy; or project-based businesses
• Experience with contribution agreements (e.g., IRAP, IDEaS) Details
• Part time contract, approximately 5-10 hours per week
• Compensation: [$75–$100 per hour / Depending on experience.
