Lead applied research at Capital One Canada using machine learning, foundation models, and cloud computing in a hybrid work model.

As an Applied Research Manager, you will partner with data scientists, software engineers, machine learning engineers, and product managers. You will build AI foundation models, advance customer experiences, and translate complex research into tangible business goals. The AI Foundations team spans research partnerships and production systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products
- Build foundation models through design, training, evaluation, and implementation
- Research emerging AI developments and apply them to customer experiences
- Use PyTorch, AWS Ultraclusters, Hugging Face, Lightning, and VectorDBs




- Translate technical complexity into tangible business goals

Requirements:

- PhD or master's degree plus two years applied research experience
- Hands-on foundation model development using open-source tools and cloud platforms
- Deep understanding of AI methodologies and large deep learning models
- Track record delivering models at scale across training and inference
- Ability to own an impactful, autonomous research agenda
