Business Analyst, Commodities Trading to support a Murex migration project using commodities trading workflows and product modelling - JP2450
Location: Hybrid - Downtown Toronto - 2 days a week
Line of Business/LOB & Project they are working on : Capital Markets Technology, commodities trading desk (front office). Supports the project migrating the desk onto Murex, starting next month.
This is a replacement. The previous contractor left for a trading role, and he came from energy trading and already knew the commodities business and the legacy system. The HM wants a business analyst who sits between the commodities traders and the technology team, helping model products in Murex ahead of the migration. The two things he cares about most are Murex knowledge and commodities business knowledge. Both are scarce, and commodities is harder to find than FX or rates. He would rather have someone who knows Murex than the legacy system, because the desk is moving onto it.
Must Haves
- Murex trading system, hands-on, ideally on the new platform the desk is moving to
- Commodities business knowledge across metals, energy and agriculture, including physical trading as well as financial
- Front office business analysis: pricing, trade capture, trade lifecycle management and risk profile
- Valuation and market data: curve building, PV and P&L;, option and exotic valuation, and Greeks profile
- Requirements gathering with traders and product modelling and configuration in Murex end to end
- 5+ years of relevant experience
Nice to Have
- Endur experience (the legacy system the desk is leaving)
- Knowledge of the rest of the trade chain:
settlements, confirmations, accounting and regulatory reporting
- Prior capital markets or bank experience
Responsibilities
- Gather requirements from commodities traders and the desk
- Work out how products should be modelled, including valuation, pricing and the risk profile of a transaction
- Configure and model products in Murex and check that the end-to-end flow makes sense
- Support front office workflows: pricing, trade capture and lifecycle management
- Work on the Murex migration project alongside technology and the business
Duration: 6 months to start
