Location:
Remote, Canada, with travel to client sites in the Houston, Texas area Type: Contract / Independent Contractor About Telence Solutions: Telence Solutions is a fast-growing telecom and network consulting firm headquartered in Canada. We deliver expert design, integration, migration and operational support for service providers, utilities and enterprises across North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia, across a broad portfolio of leading technology vendors. We are also building the Autonomic Network Engine (ANE), our own AI-driven network management platform. The Opportunity: Telence is looking for a senior consultant to lead network, NOC and inside plant integration for our client, a quick-growing US fiber broadband provider. The client is growing by acquisition, with 4–6 acquisitions planned through 2028, and the first integration is already underway. Your job is to answer one question: how do we carry out the integration strategy inside the network? You will:
• Drive execution: own the network integration workstream from pre-close due diligence through Day 1 readiness, rationalization, migration and playbook development, working independently with minimal supervision.
• Lead technically: assess acquired networks (GPON/XGS-PON, MPLS, backhaul, core and transport), define target-state designs, and set network platform standards across all acquisitions.
• Integrate operations: bring acquired NOC and inside plant teams into a single operating model, with unified runbooks, escalation procedures, truck roll standards and spares strategy.

Key Responsibilities
Pre-close due diligence
• Assess each target’s network: topology, access technology (GPON/XGS-PON), backhaul, core and interconnection.
• Inventory active hardware (OLTs, routers, switches, CPE, transport) with vendor, model, firmware and end-of-life status, and identify the OSS/BSS tools in use.
• Document NOC structure, staffing, escalation paths and vendor support agreements.
• Flag integration risks and produce a risk register and preliminary cost estimate. Day 1 readiness
• Connect the acquired network to the client’s core (VPN, MPLS or direct interconnect) and bring it into NOC monitoring, alerting and dashboards.
• Define interim incident and escalation procedures across both NOCs, and make sure provisioning and activation keep working on Day 1.

• Brief NOC and inside plant teams on the acquired network’s topology, quirks and known issues. Architecture and integration design
• Document current-state and target-state architecture across access, aggregation, core, transport and interconnection.
• Set platform standards: preferred OLT vendors (Calix, Nokia), routing and switching platforms, CPE strategy and optics.
• Define a Keep / Integrate / Migrate / Retire path for acquired equipment, with timelines and cost models.
• Design the OSS/BSS integration, plus segmentation, IP addressing and routing policy for the combined network. OSS/BSS and operations systems
• Work with the IT integration lead to migrate network inventory into the client’s system of record.
• Integrate provisioning workflows (ONT activation, service orders, CPE configuration) and route alarms and events (SNMP, syslog, telemetry) into the NOC platform.
• Define and implement SLA monitoring for acquired networks. NOC and field operations
• Assess acquired NOC capabilities and lead their absorption into the client’s NOC operating model.
• Build unified NOC runbooks and escalation procedures.
• Set field standards for truck rolls, CPE swaps, fiber troubleshooting, component replacement and spares, and define headcount for the combined NOC and field teams. Migration execution
• Own the migration plan, with milestones, dependencies and rollback procedures.
• Coordinate OLT, router, switch and CPE migrations, including subscriber migrations that need ONT swaps or reprovisioning.
• Oversee the migration of fiber and GIS plant records, and coordinate with construction and outside plant teams.
• Protect the subscriber experience throughout, tracking activation success rates and support ticket volumes. Vendor and contract management
• Inventory network vendor contracts (maintenance, licensing, managed services, transport and colocation) and identify consolidation savings.
• Recommend a spares strategy for the integrated network.

• Support vendor negotiations for hardware, software and support agreements. Playbooks, reporting and governance
• Turn lessons from the first acquisition into reusable playbooks: a due diligence checklist, a Day 1 readiness checklist, a rationalization framework and an integration timeline template.
• Provide weekly status updates to the client’s VP of Network Engineering & Operations and monthly executive summaries.
• Take part in cross-functional integration reviews, and maintain the workstream’s risk register and issue log. Required

Qualifications:
• 10+ years in network engineering or operations in fixed broadband or telecom.
• Hands-on FTTH/GPON/XGS-PON architecture and operations experience.
• At least one telecom or ISP M&A; integration, network separation or major platform migration.
• Deep familiarity with OSS/BSS: provisioning, NMS/EMS, network inventory and ticketing.
• Proven ability to document complex networks and produce executive-ready deliverables.
• Strong vendor management experience across hardware, software and managed services.
• Able to work independently, drive a workstream with minimal supervision and manage up effectively.
• Based in Canada, with a valid passport and the ability to travel regularly to Houston, Texas for client work. Preferred

Qualifications:
• Hands-on experience with Calix, Nokia (7360 ISAM FX, 7750 SR) and/or Juniper platforms.
• Experience with NOC buildouts, consolidations or operating model design.
• Familiarity with BGP-LU-based network integration and SRv6.
• Experience integrating inside plant and field operations (dispatch, truck roll workflows, break/fix).
• Prior work on a multi-acquisition integration program.
• Understanding of US telecom M&A; regulatory considerations (FCC, state PUCs). Why Join Telence Solutions?
• High-impact engagement: lead a multi-year integration program for a fast-growing fiber provider, with your playbooks shaping every future acquisition.
• Expert team: work alongside senior engineers with deep Nokia, Cisco and Juniper expertise, including double and triple CCIEs and JNCIEs.
• Flexibility: work remotely from Canada, with travel to client sites as needed.
• Growth: be part of a growing consulting firm with more engagements across North America. •
