Global Alpha is looking for a Sustainability Analyst to join its Montreal-based investment team for a one-year contract.The Analyst will support the day-to-day implementation of Global Alpha’s responsible investment approach across its investment strategies. The role will have a particular focus on ESG integration and company assessments, monitoring of sustainability risks and controversies, engagement with portfolio companies, ESG reporting, and other ad hoc ESG requests. It is a hands-on role with exposure to the investment team and portfolio companies. The scope can also evolve based on the successful candidate’s experience and interests, providing an opportunity to take greater ownership of selected initiatives.

What You Will Do

- Conduct ESG assessments of existing and prospective portfolio companies and maintain Global Alpha’s proprietary ESG scores and related research.
- Identify and assess financially material environmental, social and governance risks and opportunities as part of the investment research process.
- Monitor portfolio companies for emerging ESG controversies and sustainability risks, assess their materiality and support appropriate escalation and follow-up.




- Prepare for and participate in sustainability-focused engagements with portfolio companies, including developing engagement objectives and questions, leading or supporting company meetings, documenting outcomes and monitoring progress.
- Contribute to annual and periodic ESG and sustainable investment reporting, including company case studies, portfolio-level ESG and climate metrics and other sustainability disclosures.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Global Alpha’s ESG research, data, tools and investment-integration processes.
- The role may include additional responsibilities such as researching and pitching sustainable investment ideas and managing selected ESG projects

What You Bring

- Robust knowledge of ESG, sustainability risks and responsible/sustainable investment concepts, with an understanding of how these factors can affect companies and investment decisions.
- A demonstrated interest in ESG, sustainable finance and capital markets.
- Relevant education or experience in sustainability, finance, or a related field.
- A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively as part of a small, entrepreneurial investment team.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects.
- Familiarity with ESG data providers,



sustainability reporting frameworks, responsible investment initiatives and/or company engagement is an asset.
- Bilingual in French and English
