New Grad Program

VCH is pleased to offer new grad physiotherapists support and learning opportunities to enhance their confidence and competence as they transition to independent practice. As a new grad, you will have access to on-call support with clinical skills and decision-making, new grad education sessions and supernumerary buddy shifts to support your learning needs. Our support team for current grads includes access to a dedicated new grad educator, in addition to our entire professional practice team, that includes practice leaders and clinical resource educators and, of course, your co-workers. VCH also offers acute new grad roles with options to rotate to multiple practice areas.

What To Prepare

Please ensure all your clinical placements are included on your resume, including the following:

- Dates (mm/dd/yyyy)
- Clinical Placement / Area of Practice (i.e. Home Health, Acute Care for Elders, etc.)
- Facility (i.e. VGH, Burnaby Hospital, etc.)
- Brief description of your placements (incl. the client population you served, duties, etc.)

We also recommend having your references prepared upon applying.

As a Physiotherapist With VCH, You Will

- Provide physiotherapy services to enable clients to achieve and maintain optimal health outcomes,



by working independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
- Perform assessments on client’s physical status, functional abilities and needs and goals, establish a physiotherapy diagnosis and prognosis, develop and implement an intervention strategy, evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention, and communicate with the client/family and health care team members.
- Contribute to the organization and delivery of physiotherapy services, and participate in departmental/program quality assurance initiatives, meetings, research, and education.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
