PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Due to a Vacancy, the Municipality of Grey Highlands is pleased to invite applications for the position of Deputy Chief Building Official.

Reporting directly to the Chief Building Official, the Deputy Chief Building Official performs statutory duties of the CBO under the Municipal Act and other related legislation in absence of the CBO. The Deputy Chief Building Official will be responsible for the overall management of staff for the day-to-day operations of the department and ensures professional competencies are met and maintained and that excellent customer service is delivered.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

- Ensure compliance with the Building Code Act, OBC and other applicable law by completing provision of plans review and inspection services of all building types consistent with established policies practices and procedures as directed by the CBO including preparing and issuing orders.
- Review and evaluate building plans and proposals with respect to the building code.
- Identify potential conflicts and participate in solutions.
- Responsible for the day-to-day operations management of the Building Department, includingmaking recommendations on discipline; performance reviews; recruitment, selection and hiring practices; training and development.
