Are you an experienced Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) looking for a new challenge; one that keeps you connected to the work you love, while offering more balance, stability, and long‑term security?
At Nova Scotia Community College, you can take the knowledge and experience you’ve built in industry and use it to mentor the next generation of AMEs, all while enjoying predictable hours, excellent benefits, and a career that’s easier on the body.
Why Make the Move to Teaching?
This is an opportunity to stay hands‑on in the trade without the physical demands, long shifts, emergency callouts, or unpredictable schedules that often come with industry work.
As a Faculty member with NSCC, you’ll enjoy:
- The opportunity to share your industry expertise and help shape the next generation of AMEs
- Meaningful work that makes a lasting impact on students, industry, and communities
- A supportive team environment focused on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning
- The ability to stay connected to your trade while transitioning into teaching
- Predictable work hours that support work‑life balance
- A stable and rewarding career in education with opportunities for professional growth
- Support and training to help transition successfully into teaching
Whether you’re looking to slow down physically, spend more time with family, take your work experience in a new direction, or transition into a rewarding second phase of your career, this role offers the chance to do all of that while remaining deeply connected to the AME community.
Qualifications
We’re seeking experienced tradespeople who are passionate about the industry and interested in helping others succeed.
Ideal candidates will have:
- Valid Transport Canada Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) License: M1 or M2 or equivalent, AME‑E and/or AME‑S.

- Comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A commitment to safety, mentorship, and lifelong learning
Previous teaching experience or related experience in the delivery of educational program or training adults would be an asset, but not required. If you’ve coached apprentices, trained coworkers, or shared your knowledge on the shop floor,
you already have valuable experience to build on.
NOTE: Two years of your training will be counted towards the educational requirements and cannot be included as part of your occupational experience.
