THE CHALLENGE
The Piping Designer plays a critical role in creating, maintaining, and controlling the engineering documentation that supports TURBINE-X’s modular and mobile power generation equipment throughout its lifecycle. Supporting both first-of-a-kind projects and standardized production, this position develops accurate piping designs, 3D models, fabrication drawings, isometrics, Bills of Materials, and technical documentation used across manufacturing, assembly, installation, and project execution.
Working closely with Engineering, Production, Procurement, Quality, and Project Management, you’ll ensure piping designs are safe, manufacturable, revision-controlled, and aligned with company standards and applicable codes. This role is ideal for an experienced designer who enjoys solving complex layout challenges, collaborating across disciplines, and producing practical engineering documentation that supports high-quality manufacturing.
WHAT WE'LL OFFER YOU
- Create detailed Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, piping isometrics, general arrangement drawings, plot plans, fabrication drawings, and installation documentation.
- Develop and maintain accurate 3D piping models for modular and mobile power generation packages.
- Design piping layouts that support protected operation, maintenance access, equipment clearances, constructability, and operational ergonomics.
- Develop piping routing in accordance with applicable engineering specifications, project requirements, and industry codes.
- Generate Bills of Materials, material take-offs, line designation tables, equipment lists, valve lists, and part lists.
- Ensure drawings and models clearly communicate design intent and provide the information required for procurement, fabrication, assembly, and installation.
- Define and maintain piping design inputs, including piping specifications, component databases, design libraries, and intelligent modelling data.
- Ensure CAD platforms are properly configured to support accurate 3D modelling, intelligent P&IDs;, isometric generation, and material reporting.
- Perform clash detection and model coordination reviews across piping, structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, controls, and equipment disciplines.
- Identify and resolve physical interferences before drawings are released for fabrication or construction.
- Coordinate piping layouts with equipment nozzles, pipe supports, access platforms, cable trays, structures, foundations, and service clearances.
- Support internal and customer-facing 3D model reviews and document required design changes.
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated layouts are practical, safe, and ready for manufacturing.
Drawing Control & Revision Management
- Develop and maintain engineering drawings throughout the product lifecycle using established document control procedures.
- Process engineering revisions, design improvements, redlines, field changes,
and Engineering Change Requests while maintaining a complete revision history.
- Verify drawing accuracy, dimensions, specifications, tolerances, constructability, manufacturability, and completeness before release.
- Support engineering change management activities and formal drawing release workflows.
- Ensure released documentation is accessible to Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Production, Quality, and Project teams.
- Confirm that superseded drawings and models are replaced or removed from active points of use.
Manufacturing & Production Support
- Collaborate with Manufacturing and Production teams to improve drawing clarity, fabrication efficiency, assembly sequencing, and production readiness.
- Resolve drawing discrepancies and provide technical design support during fabrication, assembly, integration, and testing.
- Assist Engineering with prototype development, first-of-a-kind projects, production improvements, and product standardization.
- Participate in design reviews to confirm piping systems are practical to fabricate, assemble, inspect, test, operate, and maintain.
- Provide timely clarification of engineering documentation to support production schedules and reduce rework.
- Incorporate manufacturing feedback and lessons learned into future drawings, models, specifications, and standard designs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Mechanical, Process, Structural, Electrical, Controls, Manufacturing, and Project Engineering teams to develop complete engineering packages.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure piping materials, specifications, components, and Bills of Mate
