2nd Steps is a program with Sanctum Care Group that operates independent living and assessment suites for high-risk families. Support Workers primarily work within the assessment program but also provide oversight for the independent living program. We are currently hiring for casual Support Workers across day, evening, and night shifts.

Support Workers provide direct assistance to clients, ensuring compliance with program rules while embodying harm reduction and trauma-informed care approaches. This role involves guiding residents in life skills development, building routines, accessing community resources, and parenting support.

Successful applicants will demonstrate knowledge in:

Harm Reduction & Trauma- and Violence-Informed Care

Mental Health & Addictions

Child Protection Act & assessment practices

Community resources and support networks





Robust communication, teamwork, and decision-making

CPR/First Aid (required), WHMIS (required) & Naloxone training (asset)

Key Responsibilities:

Document shift notes and complete data entry

Assess family dynamics and support case plans

Teach daily life skills and routines

Support access to food, transport, and child supplies

Conduct client check-ins and enforce lease/program rules

Monitor security footage and perform building checks

Maintain cleanliness and uphold safety standards

Contact appropriate authorities as needed

Availability to work night shift is a requirement of this position.
