Black Bear Bakery is a proud queer-owned bakery in St. Catharines, and we’re looking for a baker to rise with us. Our baking is inspired by nostalgic recipes and unique flavours, the kind that make you say “oh, I haven’t had one of these in years!” We’re growing, and we need a dependable, skilled baker who wants to roll up their sleeves, bring their ideas, and help us make more of the positive stuff. Full-time, 30 to 40 hours
Pay: $20 to $23 per hour , based on experience
Crafting, portioning, and baking cookies, quickbreads, and pastries
Ensure all baked items meet quality standards before packaging or display
Helping care for our sourdough starter, Suzy Toot (yes, she has a name, and yes, she’s a star)
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery workspace in compliance with food safety regulations
Package finished products for sale or delivery while maintaining presentation quality




Follow all food safety protocols to ensure hygiene and sanitation standards are upheld
Prepping and packing product for our Thursday and Saturday market days
Handling cash and serving customers
Making drinks from our coffee menu
Occasionally staffing our Farmers’ Market stall and chatting with our regulars
Keeping our production space clean and following food safety standards
Assist with inventory management by monitoring ingredients and supplies
You might be our baker if you
Experience working in kitchens or bakeries demonstrating strong food safety practices
Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
Can work independently during early-morning shifts or cohesively with a team
Enjoy getting to know customers at the bakery and market
Have your Food Handler Certification (or are willing to get one)
Are available on Saturdays
