AVA Maintenance Management is hiring snow removal equipment operators, crew leads and general labourers for our Calgary team.

We are looking for reliable people who take pride in their work and are ready to help the team. Experienced operators who can also lead a small crew during light snowfall are especially welcome. Operators without leadership experience are welcome if they are willing to pitch in with hands-on snow removal. We are also hiring general labourers; equipment operating and crew leadership experience are not required for labourer positions.

AVAILABLE ROLES

- Equipment operators: Operate plow trucks, skid steers or loaders according to your experience and assignment. During light snowfall or when equipment is not required, help the crew with shovelling, blowing, sweeping and ice control.

- Crew leads: Organize a small crew, assign work, lead by example and check that each property is completed properly. Work alongside the crew to finish the route safely and efficiently.

- General labourers: Explicit sidewalks, entrances and stairs using shovels, backpack blowers, power brooms and snow blowers, and apply ice-control materials. Previous snow removal experience is an asset, but equipment operating experience is not required.

Hands-on labour is a regular part of the work for operators and crew leads as well as general labourers. Duties depend on snowfall, site conditions and your assigned role.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Complete assigned sites efficiently while protecting pedestrians, vehicles and property.

- Monitor slippery conditions and apply appropriate ice-control materials.

- Use tools and equipment safely and within your training and experience.

- Carry out pre-use equipment checks and report damage, hazards or mechanical issues promptly.

- Communicate site conditions,



progress and problems to your supervisor.

- Follow AVA safety policies and procedures. AVA is COR certified.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

- Reliability, a positive attitude and willingness to work alongside the team.

- Ability to perform repeated shovelling, lift up to 50 lb and work outdoors in winter conditions.

- Good communication, sound judgment and pride in completing work properly.

- A valid Class 5 driver's licence, a clean driver's abstract and reliable transportation to and from our yard.

- For operator positions: Experience operating plow trucks, skid steers or loaders. Please identify the equipment you can confidently operate and your experience with each.

- For crew lead positions: Ability to organize people, maintain a productive pace and check work quality. Previous crew leadership experience is an asset.

- Truck and trailer experience, property maintenance experience and knowledge of Calgary are assets.

SCHEDULE

This is weather-dependent, on-call snow removal work. You must be available for shifts that can start at any time, including overnight, early mornings, weekends and holidays. Heavy snowfall can require long shifts. Start times may be before public transit is operating.
