SCHEDULE

37.5 hours/week, overnight shifts [start/end time to be confirmed]. Two positions: Sunday–Thursday and Tuesday–Saturday.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Overnight Custodian takes on the deeper, heavier-duty cleaning that keeps Rabbit Hill Snow Resort’s facilities in top condition, working after hours when the lodge is closed to guests. This role focuses on floors and other large-scale cleaning tasks that are best done overnight, often working independently. The ideal candidate is thorough, self-directed, and brings Rabbit Hill’s values — Accountability, Innovation, Adaptability, Passion, and Community — into daily work.

REQUIREMENTS

- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Physically capable of lifting and moving up to 35 lbs and performing physically demanding, repetitive tasks.
- Able to work independently, efficiently, and safely with minimal supervision, including alone overnight.
- Comfortable working alone during overnight shifts.
- Familiarity with WHMIS safety practices is an asset.
- Previous experience in custodial work, floor care, or cleaning large facilities is an asset.
- Experience operating floor-cleaning machines is a plus.
- Experience with minor maintenance or repair tasks is considered a plus.
- Be reliable and punctual — arriving late or missing a shift without notice puts real strain on your team and other departments who have to cover the gap.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and reliable personal transportation required. Our location is not served by public transit and taxi service can be unreliable.

JOB DUTIES

- Model and promote Rabbit Hill’s core values — Accountability, Innovation, Adaptability, Passion, and Community — through daily work, personal conduct, and reliability.
- Wash floors using floor-cleaning machines and by hand with a mop, and perform other detailed cleaning throughout the lodge and other facility buildings.




- Complete heavy-duty cleaning tasks that are impractical during guest operating hours.
- Clean windows, cubbies, walls, stairwells, and other surfaces thoroughly.
- Clean and sanitize all lodge areas, washrooms, and back-of-house spaces.
- Collect and dispose of garbage and bottle/can recycling throughout the lodge and facilities.
- Clean and tidy outdoor deck areas.
- Operate floor-care and cleaning machinery safely and in accordance with training and procedures.
- Restock washroom and cleaning supplies for the following operating day.
- Handle cleaning chemicals and solutions safely and in accordance with training and procedures.
- Assist with managing the inventory of cleaning supplies and report replenishment needs.
- Follow Rabbit Hill’s working-alone procedures, including required check-ins, given the overnight and independent nature of the role.
- Clean across multiple buildings on Rabbit Hill property as assigned.
- Leave the lodge clean, organized, and fully guest-ready ahead of the next operating day.
- Report hazards, incidents, or safety concerns to a supervisor or manager promptly.
- Wear the required uniform or Rabbit Hill logoed attire while on shift.
- Perform other duties as assigned by a supervisor or manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS

- Working alone overnight for the majority of the shift.
- Extended periods of standing and walking during shifts.
- Frequent reaching, kneeling, bending, twisting, pulling, pushing, and lifting.
- Regular use of cleaning chemicals and floor-cleaning machinery.
- Performing tasks on variable surfaces, including wet or freshly cleaned floors.
- Indoor work with occasional outdoor tasks when required.
- Minimal guest contact, as shifts occur outside operating hours.
- Occasional exposure to biohazardous materials (e.g., bodily fluids)
