Spartan Snow Services is a commercial snow and ice management company servicing the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and surrounding regions. We specialize strictly in commercial winter maintenance and are seeking an experienced, reliable Working Foreman to drive our crew vehicle, supervise on-site walkway operations, and work alongside the team for the upcoming winter season.

POSITION DETAILS

- Job Type: Seasonal (Winter)
- Location: In-person (Dispatched out of Richmond Hill, ON)
- Schedule: On-call 24/7 availability during active winter weather periods. Must be able to respond to calls for snow and ice events within 1 (one) hour notice (including nights, weekends, and holidays).

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

- Supervise, direct, and motivate a small crew of walkway snow shovelers across an assigned route of commercial properties.
- Manage route efficiency, delegate site tasks, and perform quality checks before leaving each property to ensure contract standards are met and zero slip-and-fall hazards remain.
- Act as the primary point of contact between the field crew, dispatch/management, and on-site property managers.
- Enforce all health, safety, and company policies on-site, ensuring all crew members wear proper PPE and work safely.
- Safely drive the company truck (and trailer, if applicable) between commercial job sites in severe winter weather conditions.




- Conduct mandatory pre-shift and post-shift vehicle and equipment inspections, ensuring snow blowers, hand tools, and salt spreaders are fueled, greased, secured, and operational.
- Lead by example as a working member of the crew: actively transparent walkways using hand tools and snow blowers, apply de-icing agents, and pile snow in designated areas without damaging client property.
- Accurately complete digital route logs, track crew hours, log de-icing material usage, document site damages/obstacles, and submit required site photos.
- Show up fit for duty (strict zero-tolerance policy for drugs/alcohol impairment) and enforce the strict no-smoking/vaping policy inside all company vehicles.

QUALIFICATIONS

- Valid Ontario Driver's License (G class) with a clean driver's abstract, eligible to be insured under Spartan Snow's commercial automobile insurance policy.
- Previous experience in snow and ice management, landscaping, construction, or a similar outdoor leadership/foreman role is strongly preferred.
- Proven experience safely driving pickup trucks (and towing trailers, if required) in heavy snow and icy conditions.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to keep a crew moving efficiently during long, cold shifts.
- Reliable personal transportation to get to the Richmond Hill yard in winter weather within 1 hour of dispatch.




- Strong physical capability to perform heavy manual labour alongside your crew in adverse winter conditions.

COMPENSATION

- Guaranteed Monthly Standby Pay: $400/week, paid monthly
- PLUS Competitive Hourly Pay: $30.00-40.00/hour on top of your standby pay

- Richmond Hill, ON L4B 4V5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)

- Do you have your own reliable personal vehicle to get to our Richmond Hill yard within 1 hour of being called, including at 2:00 AM during a snowstorm (public transit is not an option)?
- This role requires 24/7 on-call availability during active winter weather, including overnight shifts, weekends, and holidays (Christmas/New Year's). Are you able to commit to this schedule?
- This is a "Working Foreman" role, meaning in addition to driving the truck and supervising your crew, you will be actively shovelling, operating snow blowers, and salting alongside them. Are you physically able and willing to do hands-on labour?
- Briefly describe your relevant experience in commercial snow removal, landscaping, or crew leadership, including the types of vehicles/equipment you have operated (e.g., pickup trucks, trailers, snow blowers, salters).

Experience:

- now removal, landscaping, or construction: 2 years (required)
- supervising (lead hand/foreman): 1 year (required)
