These include wet & dry vacuum trucks, hydro-excavators, chemical flushing units, high-pressure pumps, and hydro-demolition robotics. Servicing heavy industrial, mill, mining, and infrastructure industries.
Position Summary
Walco Industries is seeking an experienced Vacuum Truck Operator to support industrial cleaning operations at client facilities. The successful candidate will operate vacuum trucks to remove and transport dry and wet materials from tanks, sumps, pits, trenches, and process areas while maintaining the highest standards of safety, professionalism, and equipment care.
This role involves working in industrial environments and may include overtime, night shifts, and shutdown work locally and out of town.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate vacuum trucks (wet and dry) at industrial job sites
- Perform industrial cleaning of tanks, sumps, pits, trenches, catch basins, and process areas
- Load, transport, and properly dispose of collected materials in accordance with regulations
- Set up hoses, tooling, and work areas safely and efficiently
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
- Perform routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance
- Follow site-specific safety procedures, permits, and job hazard analyses (JHAs)
- Work alongside water blasting and industrial cleaning crews as required
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, site contacts, and team members
- Complete daily logs, inspection reports, and job documentation
Required Qualifications
- Valid Unrestricted Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License (air endorsement required)
- Previous experience operating vacuum trucks in industrial environments
- Strong understanding of industrial safety practices
- Ability to work in physically demanding conditions (confined spaces, heights, uneven terrain)
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and shutdown schedules
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail
- Must be clean shaven
- Must have reliable transportation to access work from home sites on time each day
- Drug & Alcohol testing for pre-hire is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Confined Space Entry, Fall Protection, First Aid, WHMIS, TDG, Ground Disturbance, MEWP certifications
- Experience working around high-pressure water blasting operations
