Looking for a Welder Who Takes Pride in Their Work

At Special Alloy Fabricators (SAF), we don't do repetitive production welding. We build custom-engineered valves and flow-control equipment used in mining, industrial, and energy operations across North America.

We're looking for an experienced Welder/Fabricator who enjoys building quality equipment, figuring out fit-up challenges, and seeing a project through from start to finish.

If you're the type of person who takes pride in laying down a clean weld, likes working with a skilled crew, and enjoys building products that actually matter, we'd like to talk to you.

This position is currently structured as a one-year term due to workload demands, with the potential for extension or ongoing employment based on business needs and performance.

What You'll Be Doing

· Welding and fabricating steel and stainless-steel components

· Building custom industrial equipment from engineered drawings

· Structural and plate fabrication

· Reading blueprints and fabrication drawings

· Operating forklifts and overhead cranes

· Working with machining, assembly, and production teams

· Troubleshooting fabrication and fit-up issues

· Maintaining high standards of quality and safety

This isn't production-line work. Every project brings something different.

What We're Looking For

Required

· 3-5+ years of welding and fabrication experience

· Ability to read and interpret fabrication drawings

· Experience with structural and plate welding





· Strong attention to detail

· Team-first attitude

· Class A pressure ticket

· Commitment to doing the job right and working safely

Preferred

· Welding apprenticeship or recognized welding program

· Stainless steel fabrication experience

· Forklift and overhead crane experience

Compensation

$38.00 - $42.00 per hour

Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, and overall fit.

Setting – Full-time, on-site role in a machining and production shop environment. Fast-paced environment with frequent deadlines and shifting priorities. Collaboration with production, machining, and assembly teams. Exposure to loud noise, dust, fumes, oils, and varying temperatures.

- Hours – Standard hours of operation. Afternoon shift with notice. Afternoon Shift: May be required (2:30 PM–10:00 PM) based on production demand.

Compensation to include salary, benefits and a deferred-profit-sharing plan.

Actual compensation will be based on the candidate’s experience, skill set, and internal equity considerations.
