Personal Support Worker (PSW) – Part-Time / Casual

Position Overview

This is a flexible, part-time/casual role supporting a client living with dementia in their own home. A Marathi-speaking caregiver matters here: familiar language is a big part of helping the client feel calm and understood. Hours will grow as the client onboards.

Shifts are typically a minimum of 3 hours to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Responsibilities

- Provide personal care (bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting)
- Assist with safe transfers, mobility, and fall prevention
- Support the client using calm, respectful, dementia-informed communication in Marathi
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
- Prepare simple meals and support mealtimes
- Support daily routines and light household tasks related to the client’s care
- Accompany the client on short outings or appointments as needed
- Observe and report changes in the client’s condition to the family and to Livia




- Complete clear and accurate visit documentation
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality at all times
- Work respectfully alongside family members in the home

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

- Completion of a recognized Ontario PSW Certificate program
- Current CPR & First Aid (Level C or equivalent)
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
- Legal eligibility to work in Canada
- Comfortable working independently in a private home
- Reliable transportation or ability to travel to the client’s home
- Fluent in Marathi (spoken); conversational English

Preferred Qualifications

- 1–2+ years of experience in home care, long-term care, hospital, or community settings
- Experience supporting clients with mobility challenges and cognitive impairment
- Dementia care training
- Medication assistance experience
- Comfort using gait belts and mobility aids
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
