About the Opportunity

We are seeking a proactive and resourceful HR Coordinator to support a large, geographically dispersed employee population across Canada. This role is well suited to an HR professional who has experience supporting high-volume, multi-site workforces within retail, supply chain, distribution, manufacturing, logistics, warehousing, or a similarly operational environment.

A significant focus of this position will be employee relations and the effective triage of HR inquiries. You will serve as a key point of contact for employees and managers, helping assess workplace concerns, gather relevant information, support employee relations matters and investigations, and determine when issues require escalation. The successful candidate will bring sensitivity, discretion, sound judgment, and confidence handling confidential or complex employee situations.

You will support employees and leaders across multiple locations and provinces, making an understanding of Canadian employment practices and the nuances of supporting employees across different provincial jurisdictions important to success in the role.

In addition to employee relations, the role provides exposure to a broad range of HR activities, including absenteeism management, recruitment, employee documentation, HR systems and reporting, employee engagement, and general HR operations.

What's In It for You

- Build further hands-on experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, and HR issue triage within a large Canadian workforce.
- Support a high-volume, multi-site employee population across multiple provinces.
- Gain broad HR experience within a complex operational environment.
- Work closely with experienced HR professionals while continuing to develop your HR knowledge, investigative skills, and judgment.
- Join a collaborative team environment with a hybrid work arrangement.

Your Responsibilities

- Serve as a key point of contact for employees and managers, triaging a high volume of HR inquiries, assessing the nature and sensitivity of each matter, and determining the appropriate response or escalation path.
- Support a range of employee relations matters, including attendance, performance, conduct, workplace concerns, employee complaints, conflict, policy interpretation, and other sensitive employee issues.
- Support workplace investigations by gathering information and documentation, conducting or coordinating preliminary fact-finding, maintaining thorough records,

and escalating matters appropriately.
- Exercise sound judgment, discretion, and sensitivity when handling confidential or complex employee situations, recognizing potential risk and involving HR leadership when appropriate.
- Provide consistent HR support to a large employee population across multiple sites and Canadian provinces, considering applicable provincial employment standards, workplace legislation, policies, and internal practices.
- Partner with managers to help them navigate day-to-day employee matters and HR policies, providing practical guidance and identifying issues requiring additional HR support.
- Administer absenteeism processes and support employee absence, medical management, accommodation, and return-to-work processes.
- Support restructuring and employee separation activities, including documentation and notification coordination, as required.
- Maintain accurate employee information, organizational charts, HR documentation, investigation records, and employee files.
- Prepare HR correspondence, including employee letters, interview communications, announcements, and other documentation.
- Support recruitment activities, including phone screens, reference checks, interview coordination, and candidate communication.
- Assist employees and managers with HR systems and processes, including directing users to appropriate self-service resources.
- Pull HR reports and coordinate employee data corrections as required.
- Support employee recognition programs, service awards, engagement initiatives, and corporate social activities.
- Assist with office Health & Safety initiatives and administrative requirements.
- Process invoices and support vendor setup through internal systems.
- Support additional HR projects and priorities as required.

Skills and Qualifications

- 3+ years of experience in HR coordination, HR operations, employee relations, or a similar generalist HR role, ideally supporting a large or operational workforce.
- Demonstrated hands-on experience supporting employee relations matters and workplace investigations, including gathering facts, documenting concerns, assessing situations, and escalating appropriately.
- Experience triaging employee and manager HR inquiries, with the ability to distinguish routine questions from sensitive, complex,

or higher-risk employee matters.
- Strong judgment and the ability to approach employee concerns with sensitivity, objectivity, discretion, and professionalism.
- Experience supporting a large, multi-site or geographically dispersed employee population, ideally across multiple Canadian provinces.
- Working knowledge of Canadian employment standards and workplace legislation, with an understanding that requirements and practices may differ by province.
- Experience within retail, supply chain, distribution, logistics, manufacturing, warehousing, consumer goods, or another high-volume, multi-location operational environment is strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting hourly, frontline, part-time, seasonal, shift-based, or other operational employee populations is an asset.
- Exposure to absenteeism management, performance management, workplace accommodations, employee separations, or related HR processes.
- Experience supporting recruitment activities, including screening, reference checks, and interview coordination.
- Comfortable navigating HRIS platforms and learning new HR systems and processes; experience with SAP is an asset.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to work with a good level of independence while recognizing when a matter requires escalation or additional expertise.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage a high volume of HR inquiries and competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build credibility with employees and managers across different locations and levels of the organization.
- High level of discretion and comfort handling sensitive, confidential, and potentially challenging employee matters.
- French language skills are a strong asset.
- Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
