Big League Movers Barrie is a growing professional moving company serving Barrie and the surrounding communities.

The Position

We are hiring a Part-Time / On-Call Professional Mover.

Initially, hours will be based on our moving schedule rather than a guaranteed weekly schedule. As our Barrie operation continues to grow, there will be opportunities for additional hours and increased responsibility for strong performers.

You will receive advance notice of scheduled jobs whenever possible. Because moving demand varies week to week, flexibility is important.

Weekend availability is required, along with reasonable weekday availability when jobs are scheduled.

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys physical work, has a robust work ethic, and wants a flexible position with the opportunity to grow alongside a new local operation.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a Professional Mover, you will work directly with our crew to complete residential and commercial moves safely, efficiently, and professionally.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Loading and unloading household goods, furniture and other customer belongings
- Safely carrying furniture through homes, apartments, stairways and tight spaces
- Properly wrapping and protecting furniture before transportation
- Packing and securing trucks and trailers to prevent damage during transit
- Using moving equipment including dollies, straps, moving blankets and ramps
- Working closely with other crew members when handling large or heavy items
- Protecting floors, walls, doorways and customers’ property while working
- Helping keep trucks, trailers, equipment and moving supplies organized and clean
- Communicating respectfully and professionally with customers
- Following safe lifting and moving procedures
- Maintaining a strong work pace throughout physically demanding moving days

Who We’re Looking For

The right person is physically capable, dependable, coachable and comfortable working hard.

You don’t necessarily need professional moving experience. We can teach moving technique.

What is much harder to teach is attitude, reliability and work ethic.

We’re particularly interested in applicants who:

- Are physically fit and capable of performing demanding manual work for extended periods
- Are comfortable repeatedly lifting and carrying heavy furniture and household items
- Have a strong work ethic and aren’t afraid of long or physically challenging days
- Show up on time and can be relied upon when scheduled
- Take instruction well and are eager to learn
- Work well as part of a team
- Stay composed and productive when a job becomes difficult
- Pay attention to detail and treat customers’ belongings with care
- Communicate professionally with customers and coworkers
- Take pride in doing a job properly rather than simply getting it done quickly
- Have reliable transportation to get to scheduled work
- Are available on weekends and have flexibility for weekday work with appropriate notice

Sports & Athletics

A background in sports, athletics, strength training, trades, landscaping, construction, warehousing or other physically demanding work is considered an asset.

Athletes often understand many of the qualities we’re looking for: teamwork, communication, discipline, coachability, physical effort and accountability.

However, a sports background is not required. If you’re physically capable, dependable and willing to learn, we’d still like to hear from you.

Experience

Previous moving experience is an asset but is not required.

We would rather train someone with the right attitude and work ethic than hire someone experienced who doesn’t fit our standards.

Training will include proper lifting and carrying techniques, furniture protection, moving equipment, truck and trailer loading, customer service, and our expectations for completing professional moves.

Schedule

This is currently a part-time/on-call position based on scheduled moving jobs.

Applicants should understand that weekly hours may vary, particularly while our Barrie operation continues to grow.

Availability requirements include:

- Weekend availability




- Flexible weekday availability is strongly preferred
- Ability to work longer shifts when required
- Availability for early morning starts when scheduled
- Ability to respond to scheduling requests with reasonable notice

There is potential for more consistent hours and increased responsibility as the business grows.

- Physically capable of safely performing demanding moving work
- Reliable and punctual

- Comfortable working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Legally entitled to work in Canada

Valid Ontario driver’s licence and previous moving experience are considered assets.
