Overview

Ideal Logistics is looking for a reliable and hands-on Mechanic Helper to join our Fleet Maintenance team.

The Mechanic Helper will assist with the maintenance, inspection, and repair of commercial trucks and trailers. This position is ideal for someone with mechanical experience who enjoys hands-on work and wants to continue developing their skills in commercial vehicle repair and maintenance.

This is a practical, hands-on role for someone who wants to build their experience in commercial vehicle maintenance and repair.

The 310T licence is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

- Assist the Fleet Technician with maintenance and repairs on commercial trucks and trailers.
- Assist with oil changes, lubrication, filter changes, fluid checks, and other routine servicing.
- Assist with inspections and identify and report mechanical or safety concerns.
- Assist with basic repairs involving brakes, suspension, lighting, electrical systems, and trailer components.
- Help diagnose mechanical issues and troubleshoot problems under the direction of the Fleet Technician.
- Use hand tools, shop equipment, and other equipment safely and appropriately.
- Assist with preparing trucks and trailers for scheduled dispatch.
- Help remove, install, and replace parts and components as directed.
- Assist with obtaining and organizing parts, tools, and equipment required for repairs.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work area.
- Complete basic maintenance documentation as required.
- Follow instructions from the Fleet Technician and Fleet Manager.




- Follow all company safety procedures and applicable workplace requirements.
- Perform other mechanical and fleet-related duties as required.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in automotive, truck, trailer, heavy equipment, or mechanical work is an asset.
- Mechanical aptitude and a genuine interest in learning.
- Comfortable using basic hand tools and shop equipment.
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Reliable, dependable, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable performing physical, hands-on work.
- 310T licence is not required.

Working Conditions

- Hands-on work around commercial trucks and trailers.
- Indoor and outdoor work environment.

- Frequent standing, walking, bending, lifting, climbing, and other physical activities.
- Regular use of hand tools and shop equipment.
- Weekend work required as part of the regular schedule.

Hours: Monday to Saturday, 8:00am to 6:00pm

Pay: From $22.00 per hour
