Contract Recruiter / Talent Acquisition Specialist

Compensation: $18.25/hr + Performance-Based Commission (Commission structure & per-hire bonus to be discussed)

The Opportunity

We are seeking a results-driven Contract Recruiter / Talent Acquisition Specialist on a freelance basis. In this role, you will partner directly with our Company Owner and Site Managers to manage early-stage hiring. You will be responsible for creating tailored job ads for construction and management roles, managing job board postings, screening applicants, and conducting first-round interviews.

Key Responsibilities

- Job Description Creation: Consult directly with the Company Owner and Site Managers to define hiring needs for roles such as Project Manager, Site Superintendent, Project Coordinator, and skilled trades; craft compelling job ads for each post.
- Posting & Candidate Sourcing: Publish and manage postings across key job channels including Indeed, LinkedIn, and specialized construction job boards.
- Resume & Application Screening: Review incoming resumes, cover letters, and applicant messages to filter out unqualified applicants and shortlist high-potential candidates.
- First-Round Interviews: Conduct initial screening interviews (online or in-person at our Richmond, BC office) to evaluate candidates on basic qualifications, experience, communication, and culture fit.
- Candidate Recommendations: Present vetted candidate shortlists and detailed screening notes to the Owner and Site Manager for second-round, final interviews.





Required Qualifications & Credentials

- Active CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation or CPHR Candidate status through CPHR BC & Yukon (or equivalent provincial HR association) is strongly preferred.
- Post-secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management or Business Administration from an accredited Canadian institution.
- Experience: Minimum of 3 years of proven experience in full-cycle recruitment, talent acquisition, or HR consulting. Experience sourcing in the construction or skilled trades industry is a major asset.
- Compliance: Solid working knowledge of British Columbia’s Employment Standards Act and Human Rights legislation.
- Platform Proficiency: Hands-on experience with recruitment platforms (Indeed, LinkedIn Recruiter, etc.)
- Location: Must be based locally and available to conduct scheduled in-person interviews at our Richmond, BC office when required.
