Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team for a new independently owned veterinary hospital in Clarkson Village. In this role, you will provide essential support to veterinarians in delivering high-quality care to animals. Your expertise will help ensure the health and well-being of our patients while also assisting pet owners with their concerns.

We are looking for 1 full time candidate and are open to 1 part time/casual candidate.

Shift patterns will consist of four 8/10 hour shifts for full time, 7 days a week on a rotation with other staff members. Must be available to work a combination of the below shifts including both opens and closes.

Monday-Friday - 8am-6pm or 10am-8pm
Saturday-Sunday - 9am-5pm

Responsibilities

- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and routine procedures.
- Safely handle, restrain, and comfort animals during examinations and treatments.
- Prepare examination rooms, treatment areas, and equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the clinic.
- Assist with feeding, walking, monitoring, and caring for hospitalized animals.
- Support client communication, appointment scheduling, and patient check-in and check-out.
- Running appointments alongside the doctor by taking a history, getting vitals and assisting with any treatment or medication administration.




- Maintain accurate patient records and update medical information as required.
- Monitor animal behaviour and report any changes in condition to the veterinary team.
- Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and general clinic duties.
- Provide compassionate support and clear communication to pet owners.
- Assist with surgeries including cleaning instruments, wrapping packs and cleaning the OR.
- Performing front desk duties including answering phone calls, food sales and client queries.
- This is a combination of assistant and reception position, the applicant must be comfortable doing both.

Qualifications

- Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting is essential.
- A genuine passion for animal welfare and patient care.
- Solid communication, teamwork, and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle animals safely and calmly.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and support the veterinary team.
- Flexibility to work scheduled shifts, including early evenings and weekends.

Job Types: Full-time, Part time, Permanent

Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week
